Youre right every game should be like souls. I would like it much better, the games would be designed better with such a philosophy in mind.

I don't think you read everything that I wrote out, you didn't come to question what would one person's desire do to another's general perception and their won desire.

Those that want an Easy/normal mode as an actual option, as in not meant to distory the game in any way for hard mode players sounds like a fair and respectable point of view, compared to the hard/nightmare mode people who believe every game should be just that and everyone deal with it because their view is somehow supposed to trump all, the thing what people are missing that;s important is the easy/normal people just want an actual option when it comes to gaming, the lack of options and focring one ideal over another just limits gaming in general, imagine for a moment how people would feel that they can't play any game at all because they were all nightmare mode, imagine the sales plummeting because not everyone plays games to test their might.

When I see hardcore balls to the walls religious gamers all I can see is a wannabe version of this:

It makes it even more challenging (since challenge/pain lovers love to regardless) if they did that with one arm while hopping on one leg.

See I don't play games 100% for the challenge, there are some games I might to but those are rare and few inbetween, I play games mostly to keep me entertained more than anything, life in itself is more challenging than any mere video game, if people love video game challenges they should step up their competitive game and go the distance with real life challenges, life challenges are so much more rewarding and worthwhile and harder than a video game, sure some could lead to your demise if you don't play your cards right but that's what makes it worth the fun and effort, of course those that back down from any sort of life/compeitive challenge probably shouldn't be harking how rgeat a video game challenge is if they aren't willing to partake in other sorts of challenges, life can be "rewarding" for all the "effort" you put into it, go out there and do amazing things and come back to tell us all how difficult it was instead of trying to limit the scope of a non existent challenge (because when you look at it objectively real life challenges will always trump a video game because video games were never all about pure hardcore challenges).

In the 80s and 90s people pulled real coins for credits in the arcade to play hard arcade games most of them they couldnt even beat, yet no one complaimed about them and kept playing. Harder games never stopped people from playing videogames or entaining themselves with them.

Youre complaining about the devolopers own creative vision, the devolopers know better than anybody else how hard should their own game be. I dont understand why you and others demand an easy mode. Do you also demand MMOs like World of warcraft to have a singleplayer which can be beat in 20h-40h like dragon age to experience the whole game? just because you and others dont want to spend the time and afford?

You dont do that because these MMO games you automaticly keep off from your radar but why are souls games the exception here? Just because bloodborne is an AAA title and has some of the best graphics ever made?

to those wanting an easy mode: just git gud

There should never be an easy or easier mode in any of the souls type games. Why? Because the difficulty is pretty much the bread and butter for that genre. It's like taking the mario out of a mario game. If someone wants to play a dumbed down, easy peasy game then go play something else. Not everything needs to be made for everyone.

thats part of the reason why i liked Demons Souls more than Dark Souls, because there wasnt stuff like the archers of Anor Londo.

I hated getting invaded in that area. FML.

sometimes to avoid invaders i would just play while hollowed out, it reduces your lifebar but that is a better tradeoff than dealing with invaders, that have gear targeted to PVP while you have gear targeted to PVE.

There's something that the majority of the "easy mode" side of it are forgetting about with souls games. Multiplayer and pvp. Both are optional part of the games but they are the icing of the cake. Does the multiplayer in COD, halo or any other multiplayer/pvp based game have selectable difficulty in it's multiplayer? It would interfere with the overall game and make match making a very slow living hell.

I  don't understand why people are so against option.

Easy - increase characters health decrease enemies, warnings for traps, no nerfing when you die

normal - how the devs envisioned it.

hard - decrease characters health increase enemies, no more warnings from other players when connected oL, perma nerf when you die

they can also do the extra mile

movie mode - watch the ai play the game for you.

my d* is bigger than yours mode - cheap deaths, controls become less responsive and like what rolf suggested pay $5 when you die but hey! When you finish the game your console will take a screenshot of your trophy/achievements and will automatically send the pic to your phone. You can show it to your date to impress her.

note: i haven't played any souls game. 'M just one of the people that likes option.

I did that when I was farming lizards to make sure that I didn't miss the loot drops. Most of the time, I would co-op in others' worlds, use magic for pve and weapons for pvp. I really like cosplaying the idea that I was helping a fellow traveler and fight invaders/bandits when they came along.

I'm not demanding an easy mode though, you're pulling at straws and making it out like there shouldn't be an easy mode for anyone, you are the oen demanding options be taken away, you're also throwing up devs speak as law, except when games happen to be shit they are proved wrong, that their vision wasn't what people shared in, otherwise you may as well say all devs are right, no matter how broken or shitty the game was they were 100% right and everyone else on the planet is wrong with that logic.

I like how in this thread we've got people complaining about handholding or how there's not enough ahrdcore or nightmare difficulties in more games and yet wanting more options is complaining?.

For the record WoW isn't a hardcore game, you level up and get better gear, just like you would any other game that gives you higher stats... though a singleplayer warcraft would be nice.
