Sometime in 2009, and if by then as some claim the Xbox comes with the 720 it will be the end of MSFT in the game console market. Because I highly doubt that twice in a row people will dumb enough to buy a console that MSFT will make obsolete 2 years after ( realize that if the 720 comes in 2009 half of the 360 owners will have had their consoles for less than 2 years).
You can say what you want about Sony, people that bought a PS2, even if they did so around the time the PS3 came out still got a console worth their investment with a huge library of games ( and games like GoW2 and GH3 came out on PS2 after the PS3 had been out, same with FFXII that came out shortly before the PS3 in the US).

First of all, the 360 has been out for 2 years already and in 2009 would have been out over 3 years, 4 years at the end of 2009. Second of all, the next system will not be released next year. The 360 has made MS a profit 2 quarters in a row, so why would they replace it already? Plus, lets not forget that the 360 still outsells the PS3 every week in software, which is where the real profits are anyway. Also, the 360 has a way better software library than the PS3 does and that will not change anytime soon, if ever.

The issue with that argument is that the PS3 is doing the best in countries where the average gamer has a lot less to spend than the US gamer, so why is it that in average the gamer with less money buy more PS3 than Xbox360 ? ( in Spain, Italy, even France the PS3 is crushing the Xbox360 and the average gamer doesn't have the budget of the average US gamer...)

What I said, and I can't be clearer is that by 2009 half of the Xbox360 owners will have had their console for less than 2 years and you can't deny than the move from last gen to this gen was better handled by Sony than MS, I mean anyone that bought a Xbox the year before the 360 came out just got F*** big time....

what shock's me the most is that people seem to be ok with the idea that microsoft will have another console ready buy 2010. how is that ok?......that would mean who ever buy's it now is only gonna get 2 and half years out if it. at least with ps3,who ever gets it now, there gauranteed another 6 years out of it, or when sony decide's to stop production.

Lets try a Western based franchise that doesn't typically do well in Japan... GTAIV may do decent in Japan, but It's doubtful it would be enough to make a huge impact in the total numbers...

Hmm.. Amazing attachment rate for PS3 too bad the 360 version still outsold it by 1.38 miilion...

Now take your time in figuring out which system is able to produce more multi-million sellers or have games that sell above 3 million... The Xbox 360 has had 5... The PS3 has.. let me total this up... 0. And to top it off 2 of the PS3's top 3 sellers were pack-in games for a significant amount of time.

GTAIV will likely have at least 4-5 million in sales if not more on the 360 and it's hard to believe that the PS3 will suddenly become a software beast and sell 8-10 million copies of the game anytime soon. Add in the fact that the 360 version is getting exclusive episodes which will keep it on people's minds at the end of this year and next year as well...
