Forums - Gaming - 2015 Game of the Year Contenders Prediction (Pre-E3)

You can make predictions as well, and after E3 im sure this will change for many people. (Based off most nominations)

Uncharted 4

Naughty Dog's brilliant record provides me with enough of an assumption that Uncharted 4 will be a heavily favored contender this year.  Back in December 2014 during the Sony PlayStation event many people were scrutinizing Square-Enix for their Final Fantasy 7 HD reveal and Sony for giving them stage time, and the Street Fighter V Console exclusive announcement. And however much excitement you got from Street Fighter V, i found the Uncharted 4 demo to not only be the best showcase of the show, but one of the best gameplay demos in a long time.  With Drake getting older and taking on rock climbing attributes similar to Lara Croft, i feel the platforming will now be better with the continued fantastic story telling and a graphical showcase that Uncharted is so well known for.

The Rise of The Tomb Raider

By far 2014's most controversial announcement when Microsoft announced Rise of The Tomb Raider was coming exclusively to Xbox in 2015.  It was later announced that the deal is similar to Dead Rising 3 and that the contract has an expiration date.  There is still controversy if this game will hit PlayStation or just PC.  But no matter the controversial around it, this game is shaping up to be an amazing game with confirmation of bigger tombs, hunting animals by population, weather cycle, and more.  For me Tomb Raider was 2013's best game and offered improvements over Uncharted that plays similar to it.  With both being released in the same year, people with both consoles will have some real fun with this style of game.

Zelda WiiU

After the inevitable announcement of Zelda WiiU at E3 the internet exploded with anticipation on arguably one of 2015's most artistic and beautiful games.  With a bigger world ever seen in Zelda, Epona, and the grass flowing in the wind its a game to watch out for thanks to Nintendo's continued efforts on the Zelda franchise.  You at least know you will recieve quality upon release

Bloodeborn

I can remember seeing the launch trailer of Demon's souls when I was a teenager and immediately wanting it only to learn it was a japanese exclusive.  After looking to import the game I decided to wait to buy Demon's Souls at launch in the West.  To my surprise this franchise not only exploded in popularity, but rather spawned its own genre of game.  Fast forward years later we get two Dark Souls, plenty of copy cats, and now Bloodeborn from the original creator.  Its quicker paced and has potential damage, but the style stays in tact.  It looks similar, but just enough different to set it apart, and that makes it one of my most anticipated games of this year.

Persona 5 but Really Fallout 4

I'd love to go out on the limb here and say Persona 5 will be nominated for game of the year in many different outlets, but being a JRPG I feel it will be overlooked in the west by the majority.  So I will have to predict that Fallout 4 will be released this holiday and blow everybody away the way Fallout 3 did.  And we can say Bethesda makes buggy games, which is true. However they are also undeniably fun and addicting that consumes hours if not days of your life away.

Games I forgot about

Metal Gear Solid V
Witcher 3

Around the Network

Halo 5
Zelda U
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Tomb Raider
Quantum Break

If I had to put down money on the top 5 contenders right now, I'd put it on

Witcher 3
Uncharted 4
MGSV
Zelda
and Halo 5

I'm going to go with Witcher 3. They've worked so hard on this game. It looks great...
Zelda will be good. You know Halo will be there...

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

My predicted Top 7 in no order:

Bloodbourne
XCX
Zelda U
Halo 5
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Uncharted 4
MGSV

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I honestly think Witcher 3 has the award on lock

The Witched 3 has a shot, but they will have to go much farther than ever before to beat their competition. Zelda will grab a bunch of GOTY awards, that's a duh. I think Xenoblade Chronicles X could nab some, hard to say. And then there's Phantom Pain to deal with. And Uncharted. So yeah, stiff competition. As for who will win THE GOTY award at The Game Awards, that's hard to say and frankly people don't always care. For example, Grand Theft Auto V won the VGX GOTY, but The Last of Us is considered the "Game of the Year" by most people due to winning so many and putting the "Winner of over 200 Game of the Year Awards" label on the box :P.

In terms of industry awards? I'd guess the following:

1. Arkham Knight
2. The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)
3. Metal Gear Solid V
4. Uncharted 4
5. Bloodborne

In terms of the best game of the year, I expect:

1. Xenoblade Chronicles X
2. The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)
3. Metal Gear Solid V
4. Bloodborne
5. Splatoon

I have a feeling The Division will be something special. If not, Uncharted 4 is going to win.
