What you say is oxymoron! As you say it will be people that just upgrading,so how the boost can be short-lived when there is a 49m OLD 3DS/XL installbase!

Well, not everyone is ready to shed 150€ for a second stick (useless in most 3DS games nowdays) or faceplates. Only core Nintendo fans will buy it.

I've never reported you btw.

Ok it's your opinion but you should know first what new 3DS/xl has,it worths upgrading...

It isn't just a second stick!it's the new super stable 3D(I can say you that I'm not disabling 3D as I was doing with the old model,it's perfect and the screen never gets blurry,as was happening with the old models if you weren't not on the suitable position or you move, all thanks to the face tracker),the way faster cpu,the radical redisign that gives a total new experience, the far better screen(In all, contrast, colors, saturation, brightness, sharpness etc)the new better browser with HTML5 support,so in extend youtoube compatible ,also considerably louder speakers,3DS xl owners were complaining for the low volume of the speakers of the old model, the significantly improved cameras(Just the fact that it perfoms suprisingly good in low light conditions is satisfying,in old 3ds case pictures were quite darkk, now in the new models are outstandingly brighte, sharper and detailed) and it has so many other, additions, changes and enhancements! And last but not least,it will get some exclusive big titles,do not ignore this fact...

Even the not so nintendo friendly...Polygon strongly recommends upgrading...

Are you disregarding faceplates?Haven't you seen how much critisism Nintendo of America receives for not releasing the new 3DS in NA because quite many costumers are in love with the faceplates and would choose this instead of New 3ds xl just because of the changable face plates...

P.s Just for amusement, what numbers 3ds did in France in the week of release of New 3ds in your opinion?I believe 40-50k and there is a possibility for 60k+...

I kinda figured a more front loaded release because the N3DS has limited edition Zelda and Monster Hunter bundles that were going to bring out the collector/Zelda fan/gotta pre-order/type of audience.

Hopefully though it's an eye opener for Nintendo than advertising on real prime-time TV shows like Walking Dead and Better Call Saul pays off. Enough with hiding your ads on Nickeldeon for kids.

I think the core nintendo fan is in his 20's so that was a wise move.  Btw is better call Saul any good?

Better Call Saul is probably as good as Breaking Bad right now. I don't know if it'll keep up the pace, but the first season starts better in my opinion than BB's first.

Iwata has postulated that too referening the Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire remakes and Majora's Mask 3D as in that the people who were younger when they bought those games during their initial release (circa 2000) are now grown adults and driving the business for their remakes.

I do wonder if the next Nintendo handheld may be aimed initially more at teens/adults. I've noticed this too with Amiibo, pretty much all the people I see buying Amiibo are 20/30 year olds, I haven't seen even one kid buying one.

They have to have a good launch title though to make that work, Nintendogs + cats on the 3DS wasn't enough to justify a $250 price point.

I do think Nintendo can get away with a $250 handheld, but there has to be a good reason for it to be that price (ie: it has to be quite powerful) and there needs to be stronger titles available at launch.

I'm pretty surprised. I honestly didn't think such a tiny upgrade would rekindle interest like this. My local Best Buy is completely sold out of them.

It's not a tiny upgrade.

It's the same system and it plays the same games (other than Xenoblade).  The differences are mostly ones of convenience, but to me that's a small part of the experience.  They're cool features, but it's still a 3DS.

The best upgrade imo is the 3D. It's now a much upgraded 3D experience and I think they can finally sell on that. Also releasing Majoras and MH with the launch was a great move that helped it.

Sales much better than I predicted tbh. Didn't expect more than 200k WW!
