Forums - Gaming - Current Nintendo-affiliated franchises

Yea, not quite understanding all the "logic" here. I'd say Mario Tennis is current considering it came out on the 3DS. I see no reason why they have to release it on Wii U also for it to be considered current.  I also don't quite understand the breakdown for the generations.  So if it is required to have two releases in a generation then wouldn't Dillon's Rolling Western count considering you counted Pushmo?  There are 2 Dillon's games on the 3DS.

Why does it matter if their last installments are recent? They could bring these franchises back in the near future, you just don't know.

I just wanted to make a list of franchises that are current for curiosity's sake. Simple as that.

I don't get it, Just because they have been dormant recently doesn't make them obsolete, they are still assets of nintendo that can be revived on current hardware at any time. Because they haven't been released for a few years increases  the likelyhood of new installments  being released soon.

Dude, he's not saying that. It's a list of IPs that are on or announced for the 3DS and Wii U, just for the sake of taking inventory of what we have so far. It could be updated as Nintendo releases new games for each series. It isn't discounting anything as obsolete. Even Mario wouldn't make the list if Nintendo hadn't released a Mario game yet. It's not about whether the franchises are "obsolete" but rather a list of evidence of what Nintendo has done so far.

You're missing Steel Diver, Dillon's Rolling Western, Nintendogs, Tomodachi, Style Savvy (Style Savvy: Trendsetters, first title on DS), Fluidity (Fluidity: Spin Cycle, first title was WiiWare), Thruspace (latest release is Japan only, first title was WiiWare), and The Denpa Men (3DS).

Mario Tennis is on there, somebody else already pointed it out. Note from the OP: " This includes franchises (need to have at least 2 games) that are on either 3DS or Wii U." Nowhere does it say it has to release on Wii U.  Yes, Dillion counts. That why I have this thread up, for people to contribute. Added.

Bayonetta and NES Remix are already there, the others are single games, not franchises.
