Forums - Gaming - Sad about Sega. The end of Servive Games.

sega isnt going away, they will just not risk much in the console buisness anymore because the returns there are bad and sega doesnt have a strong fps ip.

I just hope that if the ship really does go down, it doesn't drag everything with it. Sega holds control over a lot of IP that have market potential if someone who gave a s*** had control over them.

What upsets me most about SEGA's downfall is that they will most likely not sell their IPs. They will hold onto every single one of their properties and not a single game will be made out of them. And that is a shame.

Sega really has no great IPs anymore though. Total War is seriously about the only SEGA IP most would consider great in the last 10 years. With that said Total War is amazing.... I do not know if it is actually an SEGA IP though, I know Creative Assembly develops it.

SEGA own Creative Assembly, so yeah they own the Total War IP. They have other great IPs as well though, such as Football Manager, Company of Heroes and Dawn of War.

None of those qualify as a great IP except MAYBE Football Manager, but those are good quality IPs that are worth mentioning. Dawn of War has not had a release in ages, I think Company of Heroes has potential to be a great IP but it is not there yet. Creative Assembly is a great asset for Sega, they own one of the best strategy studios

SEGA still makes some great games, but a lot of them don't sell well enough to sustain the company

And I can agree with you. I always cringe at the negativety Sega gets but they did it to themselves. I know people really don't have hope for Sega and it's understandable, but I always have hope. I grew up to this brand and as much as I am saddened by their failure its the positives that keep me going. Sonic Gen, colors, Alien Isolation.. These are games that give me hope.. If only PSO2 came over to the west, Sega would have some exciting games and content. instead get ready for Sonic Runners =/

Is Alien Isolation "that good" in your opinion? I have not played it yet. I grew up with Nintendo, Sega, and Playstation. I care deeply about them all.

Now days I am 85% Playstation, 10% PC, and 5% Nintendo.

I have played the last two Aliens games, Alien vs Predator and Aliens Colonial Marines. AVP was fun and not the greatest game, but it was decent. Colonial Marines was a massive fail. I have not tried Isolation yet, but I have watched live streams and the game looks very polished and smooth.

I am 95% Playstation, 5% Nintendo.. I still put in some time although small to my Dreamcast.

So is this the end of console Sonic as we know it?

As a diehard Nintendo kid of the 80's, it saddens me to see this worthy rival fall. "Winning" sucks.

Sad but oh well... if they go down, other companies will bid/take over their IPs which is for the better at this point. Maybe we will finally get an original Sonic game over 80 meta after so many years or Shenmue 3. I will miss sega but I will miss the old one which died a long time ago, not the new one. Plus Altus will go to a more stable Company
