The funny thing is that if ever there was something Sony could sell on word of mouth alone it's this. And what's even funnier is that its the best way to sell this to people.

Keep in mind there are two types of consumers as far as this is concerned. The 20M people that already own the console/ however many more would just buy the console at full price outright and those that are going in simply cause the idea if IPTv + PS4 + PS+ at $70/month is too much to pass up.

Sony doesn't need to rush it. As long as there is someone that pays for TV and wants a game console; that person will automatically seek out the PS4. Its just a much better all round deal.

Wouldn't work, just don't see it. You seem obsessed with making console do stuff and be what no one want them to do and be.

Its a interesting idea. Maybe could work at 10 a month for two years but anything more and well, hell i just doubt the likelihood for gamer's to adopt this on mass.

I don't think you know what PSvue is. This has as good a chance of working as something like Netflix. And this isn't even about making "consoles" Do what they aren't supposed to do.

PSvue, like Netflix or sling TV is nothing but an app that will be downloaded to the PS4. Or ps3 or other devices. like Netflix, its just a service with the only difference being that it streams live TV. its supposed to directly be a replacement for ur cable box. You aren't gonna have this then also have cable TV, its one or the other, so why should it cost $10/month?

And I'll put it this way, I currently pay around $60/month for cable. Pay another $40/month for internet. If PSvue comes in at $59 and has all the features announced; I'll cut off my cable in a heartbeat. And from all indications, PSvue is gonna cost a lot less than that.

Neflix is 8 a month, they best be no more then 10 a month or else its failure.

Why should i pay for this any more then that when i will not get the content i get on cable.  My content provider owns the sports teams i watch and has exclusive games.  They wont be on Vue, so its near usless to me and will be to most.

sony has a great thing here and i have full confidence that in typical sony fashion they'll find a way to make the service unappealing due to one stupid decision.

Striking contracts with these media companies is one thing.  Selling at a price cheaper than cable might be another.  The thing we have to remember is that cable companies pay for the media they send.  This is no different for Sony and if the cable companies is pay at one price, why would these media companies sell lower.  So the more channels Sony attempts to get, the higher the cost of the service or they make no money.

I am interested to see what Sony Price point will be.  The interesting thing is that the Cable companies are also putting their stuff up as internet services.  What could happen is that there could be some real competition in this space and you have multiple companies vieing for your dollars.  This is what I am most interested in seeing.

my only point (previously) is the other guy's comment about $10 max and no sports was ill informed.

the cable companies only sells bundles that have hundreds of stupid channels.  everyone forever has asked to be able to subscribe to specific channels without all the bullshit and the cable company refuses ensuring they can maintain a high price.  sony has a chance to have the perfect service here,.. they can pay the media guys more per content than the cable companies and still come in at a lower price by not bundeling in bullshit.

i honestly am more excited to see if the cable companies finally start offering real consumer choice in response to the competition sony is creating moreso than i care if vue is successful or not.

That's super expensive. There's no non-gamer that will pay that and gamers will just buy the PS4.

Companies like Comcast would crush Sony like a worm and I don't see them having any incentive for letting Sony take over their business or sharing with them.

The likes of Comcast are ridiculously powerful not only in money resources but the ability to lobby the government to change/restrict laws for their benefit (see: net neutrality). I think they would put immense pressure on networks to price out Sony's ability to compete and push others like AMC and HBO to blacklist Sony entirely.

This is a terrible, terrible idea frankly. $100/month for a two year deal, you're telling someone to pay $2400 for a game console?

Do you remember when Sony tried to charge people 1/4th of that and what happened to them? Aside from the fact that U.S. broadband speeds laugh at this idea and it wouldn't be worth it for all but the most hardcore players (say your average player buys 4 games a year for $240, plus PSN access at $60, plus the PS4 at $400, there's $940 for what you're asking people to plunk over two times that amount for.

Madness.
