It's baffling they gave Dead Rising another shot recently, and are still making Ace Attorney games every now and then, but have effectively killed Mega Man, their fourth biggest franchise (and quite far from ther fifth). That's Capcom for you ladies and gentlemen.

Also baffling is how they followed Okami, a game that had the visuals as one of the biggest appeals, with a handheld game. It's a shame that Capcom owns the ip, maybe we could have a Platinum-developed Okami 2 in glorious next-gen graphics.

Ace Attorney games are pretty cheap to make. Plus they have a pretty large cult following along with being the most popular VN series ever.

This shows how heavily dependant Capcom is on just a couple of franchises.

Not really. Outside Lost Planet 3 and DmC: Devil May Cry, almost everything Capcom did on the seventh gen turned into profit. That goes for Asura's Wrath, Dead Rising, Phoenix Wright, Ghost Trick, Dragon's Dogma, Dark Void, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, the re-release of Strider and DarkStalkers...etc. Thing is, neither of those moved so many numbers as Monster Hunter, for example.

They don't need diversification; they need a bigger marketing weapon.

Can you give a source for these numbers? Or are they across multiple sources?

Directly from Capcom as said in the OP.

Too sad we will never know much they made in the aracdes. Lost planet numbers seem to be good, they should give it another chance
