These guys make nice videos about games, I watch them ocassionally. Really the Vita's number in the video are way below their real number at the time (June 2014) so it's not below 10% of 3DS's sales.

just like the WiiU, its strategy right from the start was wrong. it was DOA even though i didnt believe it back then.

What was wrong with their strategy, and what was the strategy? It just seemed like a really powerful standard console with a promise of really nice looking games. Not much seems wrong with that.

you should have an "all of the above" option in the poll, because all of those factors pretty much sum up the problems the system has.

Too pricey + no killer app exclusive like Pokemon.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
The name, bad marketing discinction from mobile, and massive reduction in the handheld market.

I strongly considered it, along with `some of the above` but I didn`t think people would claim all of them. I`ll have an option for that next time. Thanks ; )

The cool kids would rather use other mobile devices, Every feature it has can be found better, elsewhere. Only excellent exclusives that appeal to millions could have made it a smash. |
Its slick design looks like something the cool kids would want, though I dunno what`s cool with the kids now...

I`m not one of them to say it has no games, but in the beginning a fair number of people would say this, and the software line up did seem a bit lacking, but that is clearly not the case anymore. I just had that reason for any who still believes that, despite it not being true.

i dont really follow handheld games much so i dont know how many games the 3DS has versus the Vita but i do know that a lot of Vita games (the vast majority) are niche japanese games, (games that i like a lot) and the problem with this games is that they basically dont exist for the casual crowd and even some gamers, because they are not advertised and they are never going to be as popular as something like Pokemon.
take for example Makai Trillion:

A really awesome looking SRPG being developed exclusively for the VITA and one of my most anticipated games this year, and i bet not even you knew about it XD, the plot of the game, the game mechanics, the character design... everything looks awesome to me, but its just sadly a niche game, and no one besides the target demographic will know about and play this game, and that target demographic is pretty small its basically "people interested in japanese games who keep up with news and games announcements in internet news sites".
one of the biggest problems with the VITA was lossing Monster Hunter, that was the "Mainstream Game" that moved the system, without it its left with mostly niche japanese games, and there is sadly no way it can compete with something like a 3DS that has two MONSTER exclusive franchises like Pokemon and Monster Hunter (heck maybe even three if you count Yokai Watch) plus all the nintendo games like Smash, Mario and Zelda.
