It's kinda funny when you put it like this because Link's Awakening is a direct sequel to A Link to the Past, while A Link Between Worlds takes place a century after that in the timeline. But I see where you're coming from.

I don't want another Zelda for the 3DS or even the new 3DS truthfully, unless they are going completely off rails like having the main playable character be Zelda or someone besides Link. If they can't do that, they might as well wait until the next Nintendo handheld comes out.

I don't think there will be another one, and honestly, I don't think there should be. 3 Zelda's on one console is enough. Even if two are remakes.

The 3DS has had 2 Zelda remakes and 1 new Zelda game. And even then the "new" one was a remake in several ways. I think it was Miyamoto who nearly "confirmed" there's another 3DS Zelda on the way (at this point I'd think it'll be a New 3DS exclusive), and Nintendo handhelds tend to get 2 of them, so it seems very natural for there to be a second one.

As for myself, I just want it to be something new. No relation to any other game in the franchise whatsoever, just do something different and take the franchise somewhere it hasn't been yet. I don't even care if they go top-down or regular third-person perspective, regular or touch controls... I just want a 3DS Zelda game that feels fresh, because between the remakes and A Link Between Worlds I haven't felt that yet.

I don't think remakes should count either. If we are counting that, then Gamecube had 5 different Zelda releases, Gameboy had 4, and Gameboy Advance had 4, so ExplodingBlock's statement is incorrect.

I hope they are making a third one. But wouldn't it be awesome to make a hero of time trilogy? It could link the events between Majora and Twilight, focus on Link as an Adult and how he becomes the Hero's Shade.
