I bought The Boy the new 3ds XL for his birthday.  Before I gave it to him I bought a larger 16 gig MicroSD card. I figured I'd get that installed first and charge his battery all the way up so that he could tear into playing from the time I handed it to him.  I will say it first, it was operator error that caused the issue.  I forgot to remove the stylus before removing the back plate to get to the MicroSD card. It bent the really thin plastic of the back plate causing the corner where the power button is to no longer rest snug against the rest of the device and stick on the power button.  I was not happy.  Luckily Walmart was still willing to exchange it for me and allowed me to swap out my charged battery in the first unit to the new unit. Again this was my fault it got bent but damn it was easy to do. Anyone else have a gripe about the build quality?

Damn Nintendo building their products cheap. At least Wal-Mart exchanged it for you.

I've been pretty pleased with the build quality so far. Not a fan of some of the placement for certain things like the microSD slot & the stylus, but overall it feels like a nicer system than the older XL model.

My son, he's 14.

The preformance improvments are nice, The Boy says the system transfer was very thurough and its much quicker than the old one. Oh and he loved that he could close the lid on Smash without havng to restart the system.  He just bought Majora's Mask with birthday money so we'll see what he thinks of that.

I don't have the N3DS, but I don't like that they went with that finger magnet texture again.
