Tie between Kratos and Dante for me... unless I think of something better.

Yeah, Kratos kills any innocent girls/men he can get his hands on, but we're somehow led to believe he cares for Pandora? He killed Poseidon's princess/captive just to open a door yet he wants Pandora to be safe? Shitty writing.

I'm more willing to believe Kratos killed his wife and daughter after being drunk instead of being misled by Ares.

Whoa, i never knew all that. Ive only played GoW 2 and to me it was just an angry man being angry at everything.

-Kratos from God of War. He became an utterly despicable and monstrous person after having somewhat understandable motivations in the original game. (SPOILER-SPOILER) The worst thing is the developers thought it would be a great idea to make him a martyr at the end of the story instead of committing to the "I became a monster" storyline. Cowards.

lol he knew he was a c**t, he was a tormented man who became a monster blinded by rage, something a lot of us have can relate to. In the end even he was disgusted at the chaos he had wrought and saw fit to do the only decent thing he could, end his life.

He didn't do it to become a martyr, who exactly would he be a martyr to? Everyone still alive would've wanted him dead haha. His suicide was his final fuck you to Athena to deprive her the power to be the one true God and also because he felt his life wasn't worth living after his destructive quest for vengeance & atonement was complete, releasing hope to mankind was just a positive by-product of his final act of defiance/selfishness.

Kratos is my fav character as if it isn't obvious :P

The biggest prick in gaming is no doubt Rico from Killzone 2...

Waluigi, all the way. House of N does not suffer from creative bankruptcy, but that character somehow reeks of it anyway.

Waluigi was made by a third party studio.

Well, that explains that. But he's lingering like a stale fart, while cool characters like Geno collects dust in the "do not want" closet. =/

lol, there's a thin line between shitty writing and lacking comprehension skills. It's obvious why he grew to care for Pandora so I'm not going to bother there.

What has Poseidon's princess got to do with his relationship with Pandora? So if I care for someone I like should I also care for someone I hate? Why would Kratos care for the lover of someone who tried to kill him?

And with the way she acted toward Kratos at first sight it's pretty obvious they already had past grievances, unless she was only imprisoned just before Kratos got to her and had knowledge of all the death and destruction he had caused, which is silly to assume.

And the only time completely innocent people are killed is when you choose to for health or there just isn't another option, how is Kratos going to destroy the evil & capricious Gods of Olympus if he let's petty morality get in the way to the point where he refuses to go on without commiting a bad deed? Wouldn't be much of an adventure then.

Yeah, me, the historian, is lacking comprehension skills about mythology. I'm pretty sure the devs are lacking comprehension about mythology lol!

The box of Pandora never existed, and it probably never contained hope either. ;)

Stupid translation/misinterpretation errors that still persist to this day.

Kratos, and GoW, shits all over greek mythology.

Kratos also killed the sea captain instead of saving him from the hydra. And Poseidon's princess didn't know Kratos personally, she only knew of his reputation (he's easy to recognize with his palewhite skin and markings). She was imprisoned recently by Poseidon (who was affected by the evils of the box of Pandora).

I didn't really see this, but it's arguable I suppose.

Regarding your second paragraph, what you are saying makes sense from the point of view of Kratos, but what I'm saying is that the developers made him take that choice to make into some sort of hero/martyr at the end of the game, kinda like to compensate for all the crap he did (they obviously failed if that was their intention). After all the rage and hatred he showed during the whole game, that ending just doesn't fit with everything else. I think making Athena return is probably the biggest factor into this whole problem. Killing himself alone would've been a lot more powerful, doing it pretty much just to screw with Athena is kinda lame.

Only partially true. Shigeru Miyamoto himself helped designing the character.

Tidus from FFX, easily my least favorite FF character.
