Defined but not the best?
That's easy.

CoD4 - Console online MP
Wii Sports - Movement based interation
Minecraft - Limitless potential
LBP - User made content
Mass Effect - Choices. Helped western RPGs take a big leap over JRPGs last gen.

I would say none of these are in my favourite 5 games of last gen.

I just had the same issue, got past the exact same 4 and you and got stuck. Went with ME because of the WRPG/Choice system side of things.

Gears has had a huge impact on games and has defined third person shooters and cover mechanics.    It not only defined what a great third person shooter was but spanned across games all across the industry including Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Uncharted, etc  Call of Duty got the whole modern military focus going, perks, and twitch gameplay. Endless games have a lot of influence from these two games. Both are on respected levels which is why i said both without a doubt should be included

Nintendogs and DOTA im not so sure about. 

That's a good point.

Nintendogs or New Super Mario Bros, becuase the DS was a big deal back then and those games catapulted it.

Dota2 because PC gamers deserve representation and that game has more users than WOW in its peak. In europe, where we primarily play PC, dota is a big deal.

I would absolutely love for there to eventually be a Skate 4 though.

Seeing Uncharted and TLOU alongside each other just makes me realise how much TLOU doesn't belong on this kind of list. Good as it was, it basically just followed in similar footsteps to the Uncharted games in terms of aiming for something cinematic.
