Forums - Nintendo - Will Xenoblade Chronicles X Have One of the If not The Best Open Worlds In Gaming to Date in Terms of Exploration?

The best one? I dunno, that`s always a bold claim to make, but so far, yeah! I`d say it`s the best I`ve seen so far. No game so far has impressed me more than X`s world. It may be even better than FF15`s! The only one I think could combat X is Zelda. That sunset view was so good...

FFXV imo will be much bigger in terms of land (kilometers), and will have far surperior Cities/etc.

That said, i cant think of a game in scope of how well the design of this world is. Of course opinions are opinions, but i like to see somebody point out a diverse world like XCX (in terms of size+diversity)

Yeah, it was shown in Video, example their are many places you can only get to via mech. There are floating islands in the first main area.

Not confirmed but look at the 4th pic i posted. See that floating giant sphere? Im betting u can fly inside and it'll have a huge exploration cave/etc inside. Theirs also hidden areas, such as 1 cave shown (pretty big too) not to be shown on the map.

Yu need to see that last trailer tht came out... :)

What's the trailer called?  There's been a crap ton of X videos coming out lately.

Video starts off slow, but picks up. This vid focuses on the 5 main regions + exploration. Supposedly another vid on combat (and hopefully story) will come at a later date.

That said this ist everything but still... Tell me yor take on it!!!

edit: The Jungle area is sooo damn beautiful, and has the best looking landscape imo. (in the game)

XV will no doubt be bigger, but the world of X just looks so much more creative and interesting in comparison. It really feels like a grand alien world with so many cool things to see. XV seems pretty normal, so it seems kinda boring. Not very fantasy to me, which is what I associate with FF. But that`s just me. I expect people to disagree with me and maybe even call me crazy.

I doubt it tops Dark Souls, but it does have a good chance of pulling out a unique world.

You should add that video to the OP, helps your point.

When I think of the best open world to explore I think of Skyrim, because of its interesting side quests, dungeons, worthwhile loot and other things like random dragon encounters, things that are unique to that game.

After seeing that, side quests check, dungeons check (in the form of caves it looks like), gear dont really know yet (the game might just expect you to buy all your gear instead of finding it in the world), and all the huge random monsters fills in those dragon encounters, and it has unique things to explore, like finding those life capsules full of people.  The question is just how well all of these are implemented.  I do like that hopper camera, really helps for exploring.

Visually yep! Its what Final Fantasy XIII wanted to be.

I haven't seen an open world game more expansive and diverse than XCX's...so sure!

Xenoblade for Wii already had one of the best.

It comes to whether they can maintain that same level of quality second time around.

It definitely looks promising so far.

It definitely has the visual intrigue element down. I look for that in all games. It's one of the reasons I feel Skyrim's world design is leagues better than Oblivion's. The land forms have more uniqueness and are more diverse and arouse more curiosity. This game has that in spades, fare beyond what you see in most games. And I love that actual exploration is part of the gameplay with the Frontier Net system.

i dont think so, and those are not screenshots
