I read the article earlier. The headline is a little misleading to what he is saying. Basically he is saying Sony is less likely to be reactionary in trying to outsell MS than MS is concerned with outselling Sony. I think he's right. Sony are playing their own game while MS are focusing too much on Sony and not doing their own.

The funny thing is Pachter implies that Xbox is outselling PS as if WW=USA.

He must be from the globally in US team.

MS want to win, and with their infinite reserves of cash I'm sure they will easily. Their only competition is dirt poor Sony after all

I agree, he seems to have a real 'murican view of the worldwide market.

Also, about Nintendo and the WiiU: "They won't [compete in power and price]because they still live in that old console world where they think they need to make a profit on the hardware" Is people still thinking that selling a console at a loss is a guarantee of sales numbers or even profit? Tell that to the PS3.

Actually Pachter is very smart. People can dis him all they want but he is.

His knowledge of consoles and gaming isn't so great though. He looks at it from a different angle that is more money and business motivated. We all know on here that it's much more than that but he will never be able to see things like us. He's a business man.

Yeah, he is a very successful and well respected analyst. Videogames are very much a small part of what he does. People can call out his predictions, but to call him stupid is simply nonsense

I always agree with Pachter.

But you don't need to be an analyst to know that MS wants to be leader in every market they enter and Sony wants nothing more than to be profitable again.
