Casual centric platform gets casual games for it. What's the problem here really?

Nintendo fans can't have it both ways here, if Nintendo wants more so-called "hardcore" third party games they should be a console specifically aimed to that market and take the lead by also making more hardcore games themselves and proving that those games can sell in big numbers on their platform -- like GoldenEye did on the N64.

You can't on one hand champion the decision to go with a more causal approach, but then get upset when third parties follow suit by offering more casual games, rather than the more violent/action-oriented titles on other platforms.

Half of Nintendo's own first year Wii U lineup was casual/mini-game fare, their entire marketing of the system was to the family/kids/casual demographic, the system had the Wii brand for crying out loud, yet third parties are somehow at fault for making games they think are suitable for said platform?

YOu know it;s time to question your sanity when you're defending a publisher who's been known to nickel and dime it;s customers, deliver completely bug filled games while charging mad like prices for said broken games and even ones within the games itself.

I've noticed your "go big or go home" mentality (from profiling) along with how everything should go mobile, you actually remind me of someone from the Escapist forums who takes the exact same stance and talks the same as you do, which is why I'm going to ask you this like I did him;

Are you sane?, are you aware that you're defending a publisher, a company known for acts of greed and acts of being anti consumer and yet you right here are siding with them and not the consumer, the one who makes the business what they are?.

Knew it would have been nothing of worth.

How is it "anti-consumer" to make a casual game on a casual platform?

If you're going to be angry with these types of games, then be angry also at Nintendo for making a platform aimed primarily at these types of experiences. That is the crux of the Wii brand, that is the type of software it is designed to attract.

iPhone users don't get angry at developers for making casual games, because they know that's what the iOS platform is about primarily.

But for some reason some people love to deride third parties for making violent "dudebros" games, but then turn around and complain when they don't get those same games on the Wii/Wii U even though the design priority for both of those systems is to get casual gamers.

If anything Ubi Soft gave Nintendo more of the time of day than they deserved. The Wii U looked like a dud from the moment they unveiled it, trying to ride out the dying fad of gimmick controllers to appeal to casuals on the console side, yet they still opted to support it with quite a few games and even an exclusive FPS.

Nintendo should release something in response, called: You are no friend.

someone asked me why I disliked Ubisoft today

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

You think I'm mad?, you must have wishful thinking on the old noggin, no I'm not in the least, I was questiong your sanity in general and why you chose to defend a company like ubisoft, note that I'm not actually defending Ninty here so there's logically no reason for you to include me and them together, unless of course you want to show an agressive stance.

ubisoft's track record has been quite poor over the recent years along with their stock levels, they have been known to being anti consumer and release very broken games day 1 acorss multiple platforms (the ones that don't even touch a Ninty console still botched up) and it shows how they see quality.

The thing I'm trying to get at here is how you can question the consumer who by all rights can say and do what they want with their opinion and money but not the publisher/devs, the people that are supposed to be getting said consumers to part with their money and earn good will, the last time I checked the earth did not work the other way around where all opinions are factually wrong and the company is right even if it did have a few good sales within it;s history that can somehow outweigh all the bad from start to end.

I mentioned mobile but you only mentioned Apple, or specifically iphone and their market, one that has nothing to do with ubisoft or ubisoft's ahrdcore games, you didn't answer my question to your stance either with the "go big or go home" and why you take such a massive stance with mobiles, I have seen you talk against most consoles from your post history and you remind me very much like the Escapist user I mentioned before, he even made simmilar threads on that site to support his opinion that most of the time got either banned or warned because it didn't really fit in with the general community, this board is generally more console (with a fraction of PC and a very very tiny of mobile phones) than it ever will be mobile phones, please answer me why your still take that stance even though you generally are not the majority (throw up apple sales data and I'll throw the billions more people on this planet that have no apple device or are part of the "casual" market, you cannot win when there are millions and billions of people not yet on a single side).

From what I can tell the WIi U has some hardcore titles already along with some casual ones, I see no image issue, the only issue I see are the ones trying to clog it up on purpose to fit their agenda like people do with PC, Nintendo and Xbox etc.

See you claim the WIi U was a dud but that implies it's dead or should have died and yet it did not, it's actually sold somewhat well, nothing amazing but it's still alive, it hasn't "dudded" out since it emerged from the gate, you also forgot ubisoft's track record and history when you claimed they gave ninty enough time of day, that's not for you to decide since you clearly don't invest in the Wii U, how would you know Wii U owners opinions if you clearly don't acknowledge them?, that's up to them to decide because clearly they've wanted games like Rayman but Ubisoft goes and delays them even though the Wii U version sold more than who Ubi delayed for, they delayed Watch Dogs and did so little to the game that it;s a worse port than the last gen versions and yet we can get better games like Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Mario kart etc.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Wow. Just wow.

If people despise mini-game/casual fare then maybe they shouldn't have been cheering so loudly when Nintendo basically decided to turn their entire console division into a mini-game/fad-chasing direction which typifies the Wii brand. This is the type of software you get as a result of taking that approach.

Stop it already. there's no such thing as "casual", it was just a term invented by those who couldn't accept wii's sucess. even if there were such a thing, wii u wouldn't be a "casual centered console" and it's incredibly offensive to say otherwise. The console's lineup speaks for itself.

The game in OP is clearly a "casual game", which some people get angry about being on the Wii U. I just find it a little silly to be angry about a game that is made precisely for the target demographic Nintendo is aiming for with their own hardware.

The Wii brand is made specifically to attract this type of game.
