Sure they might not be as necessary nowadays, but on a PS2 back when Atlus was smaller, still is kind of small, it was a great way to convey the enormity of Tartarus. Not controlling your team mates directly, added to the visceral and dangerous nature of the fights, and made strateg more dynamic. Plus being in the dungeon for to long made you tired, so you never spent forever in the night hour like p3p and p4. ut hey, I'm the minority, I'll just be happy if they appeal to the fans rather than the masses, but "selling out" isn't Atlus's modus operandi. |
Personally I don't mind randomly generated dungeons so I'd still be hyped for P5 if the dungeons were the same as in previous games but I think it's exciting to see what they will do with the non randomly generated elements of the dungeons in this game and they said there will still be randomly generated elements here, anyway, so it's not like they're changing it completely.

Really, I'm just worried, they'll do the modern things with linear corridors and short campaign time

P3 has an average of around 65-90 hrs with top tier speedruns clocking in at barely sub 20 and the world record at 15 hours (I don't believe that)
and P4 can easily go upwards of 100+.
I don't need no multiplayer in my Persona, just 100 hr+ playtime.
edit: thx
