Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii U will never beat PS Vita! (real sales)

Wii U will sell some like 50% more than Vita.
And Prepare for 2:1 this year.

LT?

The Wii U is not selling 20m units, and the Vita's isn't suddenly gonna stop selling overnight. The asian and Japanese market will garuntee at least 2m this year with more Swords Arts, Persona, God Eater, One Piece, Digimon, Star Ocean 2 remake, Saga, Toukiden next etc all coming this year.

Edit: never mind, my maths was off  50%=/= 2x :P

I don't think so vita is dead in Usa and Europein japan it will down yoy the only real big system sellers in Saga and i don't think it will do well in China.
Wii u is up yoy without any big game and have Holiday advantage.
I think wii u will outsell vita in 2 years

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I don't see how the Vita can stay ahead of the Wii U forever.

Even if Sony has shipped a lot more Vita units than VGChartz has shown sold, it's been shown before that Sony ships more units prior to sales than Nintendo does. The Vita being undertracked here is likely, but the sales difference between the Vita and Wii U is probably much higher than you are saying.

I'm going to look at the Wii U and Vita in the "Four Regions" over the rest of their lives, based on known info and what I hope is reasonable speculation.

Europe saw Wii U sales rise drastically and Vita sales plummet in 2014. Otherwise, the same basic problems plague the Vita here, so let's skip to Japan.

"Rest of World" has purchased 1.13 million Vita units. This will rise, but I doubt the Vita in these places will be proportionately as popular as the Vita, especially given how mobile gaming continues to grow.

These 2 regions we have absolutely no solid data for. Which is pretty much why the "undertracked" thing has come up anyway. We know pretty reliably what US sales are like and very reliably what Japanese sales are. But if you have solid figures for Europe and the Rest of the World, I'd love to see these.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Nope, it wont get close to 2mil. In japan the sales were both 1.1mil in 2013+2014, the games you mentioned wont push vita passed 1mil this year (Saga+Digimon are the only real system sellers i see as of now) in japan. 2013 had Price Cut with huge games (for the system) and 2014 started really strong, but fell apart during Q4.

Vita will do 700k-900k this year (japan). PS4 will hurt sales overall especially with all the big games coming in for it. As for the games you mentioned...

SAO: Already had one

Persona: Just a dancing game

GE: Ok this will give a nice boost but nothing compared to GE first release which had vita tv launch+holiday boost beside it.

One Piece: Its on PS4/PS3

Digimon: Could push the system, but im not that confident (i just hope the game does well tbh)

Star Ocean: No Comment

Saga: This will push systems, guaranteed

Toukiden: Already had 2 games released.

The Vita only needs Japan and the rest of the world to outsell the Wii U. Also sony support is not as important as third parties and they seem on side with Vita.

I think Wii U will overtake vita this holiday, but Vita will return to the top in the longrun because Japan.

Wii u outsold psv in Holiday 2014 and now in January i don't see how vita will start to outsell it.

Third party are not in any side ,release some port and niche games won't help vita much

2014 was the peak year of the Wii U and Vita will have a very big 2015 in my eyes

Vita will have big 2015 without Sony games and YouTube app!?

And 2014 was pick for Wii U!?

Just, no.

Ok, so you think Zelda, Splatoon and Xenoblade Chronicles X could top Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. and Bayonetta 2?
And why do you think that Vita won't have a better 2015 than 2014? Will the sales shrink without Youtube... xD
And Sony is supporting the Vita right now very good, just take a look in the upcoming games for the Vita!

No other game will boost Wii U as Bayonetta 2 did.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Isn't Hatsume Miku also just a dance game? Given the game is also coming with a limited edition Vita and a Persona 5 bluray disc I think it will definitely move systems.

Also I never said japan will give it 2m, I said japan and asia (including china launch), will garuntee 2m in response to the 2:1 ratio Ryng Tolu expects WIi U to outsell Vita. Wii U will have to sell a above 4m this year for it to achieve that.

If vita sells 700k-900k (its #1 region) in japan,  you thinkthe remainder 1.1mil-1.3mil are going to come from china+the other asian countries? O.o I be surprised if NoA+Europe hits 2mil with japan this year. (if no price cut of course)

In Japan they're definitely on the Vita's side and they're the sole reason its selling at this point. Also the reason why I expect Vita to win in the longrun is because the Japanese devs are giving it consistent support and there is no signs of that changing, with further price cuts along the way and another hardware revision likely I think the Vita will continue selling in the distant future at a similar rate to which it is now. Japanese devs won't be in a hurry to abondon a capable handheld wiith a fair install base, I think we'll see a repeat of the PSPs long legs. The Wii U however is entirely dependent on Ninendo's support, I don't see that exisiting past 2016
