Forums - Nintendo - Will Xenoblade X "outshine" Zelda Wii U??

Considering how often I'm still seeing people say what's this I've never heard of Xenoblade, I'm gonna go with no. Most gamers will know about Zelda and won't bat an eye at Xenoblade no matter how good it is.

Also Zelda and Xenoblade are nothing alike, it's not a great comparison. They're just the most 'hyped' games releasing on Wii U this year.

This. I bought a Wii U just to play Zelda. I've never even heard of Xenoblade X.

I do think when people think greatest game of 2015 (or hell greatest game on Wii U) the majority of gamers are going to have one of these two titles in their head. And while I do think Xenoblade X could take home the title of greatest Wii U game in a lot of the hardcore gamers opinions I don't think this is a bad thing. I think friendly competition in house between two very talented development teams can only bring the best out in games.

I don't know about review scores, but speaking from personal opinion, the original Xenoblade outshone every Zelda game except for Ocarina in my book, so XCX may very well turn out more impressive than Zelda U.

agreed.
my love for zelda took several games to show up.
my love for xenoblade came after a single game.
i love them equally, but xenoblade just needed 1 game to reach the same zelda love i have.

Since you're not talking about sales. Theyres a Chance :o but I don't think so

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Yes, this will outshine Zelda u. I am getting a Wii U for this game...won't be paying any attention to Zelda til I'm finished

Not sure. It comes down to that magical word: marketing. Xenoblade as a franchise has a chance to really climb fast. However, it needs to keep being pushed. So far, Nintendo's actions have been encouraging; lots of coverage in general. But the real test will be E3 and launch.

However, it doesn't have the pedigree of Zelda to back it up. Xenoblade was a great game but it's just one game; the Zelda franchise in terms of main home console entries has a ton of accolades to its name. So I don't think it will outshine it.

In the future, perhaps with Xenoblade 3, I think the two could go toe to toe if the franchise is handled right. But as it stands, I think Xenoblade is too young.

Joke thread? Only a select bunch of Nintendo fans care for Xenoblade.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

*sigh*

Past numbers taken in a vacuum are not an accurate means of measuring present or future potential for success.

Need I remind you that prior to Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls was very niche.  Then Morrowind over doubled the audience, and then Oblivion doubled that, and the rest is history.

Or remind you that platformers were once the dominant genre in gaming.

Or remind you that at one time JRPGs seemed poised to become the biggest thing since sliced bread.
