I'm certainly not the best person to explain this. But the gist of it is that most Americans still buy their health insurance from a private company (Monty might even have had his through Rooster Teeth, his employers) rather than the government. You choose your own coverage and it's still possible to wind up in over your head with medical bills even with insurance... I believe many insurance companies have a limit on how much they will pay for coverage of a single condition.

Even though I wasn't a big fan of Monty's work, this is really sad. I did watch some of it and enjoy it with my friends. ...Maybe I was a fan after all?

I don't think I'll ever get the situation with health care dilema in the US, in the UK the NHS may have its blips but it's a God send and one of the main things that makes me wary of leaving to live in another country. Paying high prices to get treatment is a terrible situation to be in.

Obamacare doesn't mean we get free healthcare.  It means that we're forced to pay for healthcare whether we want it or not, and healthcare is still hella expensive.  There are specific Obamacare plans, but you still have to pay for them, and the cheap ones are basically worthless.

I still can't believe it myself. He was supposed to be a working machine. He would even just sleep at his desk, he was that dedicated to his work. I remember like yesterday watching that animated adventure with his little dance moves and DDR arrows and drunk Gavin going gay for him. :( Sad to hear him go that unfairly. There's this feeling when someone you really look up to is just gone. You never think of them as someone vulnerable to death. Damn, I'm gonna miss him.

Insurance and Health Care is Private in the US. ObamaCare basically just said the insurance companies can no longer turn people down for prior conditions, and that if you don't have insurance, you will be paying the government an annual fee to balance out the cost of yourself and other uninsured people.

There's no fixing it though, medical costs are absolutely absurd in the US and the whole "kick-back" system between the medical field and insurance companies is fixed in a way that you're utterly screwed if you aren't paying for insurance. It's incredibly easy for medical expenses to cross $100,000 for surprisingly little.

Isn't he the guy that made all of those awesome videos like Haloid? Don't know much about him but hate to see such a talented guy leave this world, especially at such a young age.
