Evolve styarted with a great deal of excitement and anticipation, but seems to have fallen down a bit on the execution. First people in the Alpha were not raving about it, I played one round and it was OK. Second people kept up the un-hype train by saying there's not enough to it for people to really be willing to invest in the game. Third all this DLC heavy stuff put more of a dampener on people's enthusiasm.
I think the model is a bit wrong really. Instead of 1 vs.a few as an asymmetric formula it should be a few vs. many. I'm thinking something like a squad of 4-6 vs. a horde of 50 or 60 zombies (i.e. 50 or 60 gamers play as zombies) Or maybe just 10 people start out as zombies but with civilian bots running around, and each civilian bot that gets bitten brings in another gamer as a zombie. You could even have rival squads for a three way battle. Do the rivals work together until the zombie threat is down and then go at each other, or do they try to kill each other off and then turn on the zombie team. And of course it doesn't have to just be zombies on the horde team.
