I thought there was already a new one confirmed in development? Well maybe not confirmed but I thought there were some rumours and pictures out there a while ago at some Sonic event or something.

I'm pretty sure Sonic Team was at work on one while Boom was in development. It's likely we'll hear about it this E3 and it'll come to PS4, XB1 and Wii U either 2015 or 2016 (which is the 25th anniversary of Sonic). It could be their sendoff for the franchise's physical presence. Unless they really want to be done after the disaster that was Boom.

Yes, it's SEGA's only cash-cow and there's no way they're giving him up without at least one more game to see if it can truly be profitable on today's market. Most likely we'll some kind of collection this year, and the "next-gen" Sanic in 2016, since you know, 25th anniversary n' shit.

I'm sure there's going to be a new Sonic released this year for next gen consoles.
