Pokemon on the Wii U would certainly move consoles. Chances are they mainline Pokemon games will be handheld forever unless the "Fusion" combines console and handheld.

Yeah, but they already have other ways of encouraging social play, like the Friend Safari. (Which I hate, for many reasons, but that isn't the point) I know that the Oracle games are destinct. I'm staying that the versions could go that route instead, while also taking a Friend Safari approach to version exclusives. Instead of it depending on which version you buy, they could depend on more intimate elements of your game, like what Friend Safari does with your friend code. It could allow each individial to have their own unique ecosystem without depending on versions. 

No one said that the Wii U version doesn't look better. The fact, however, is that Smash 3DS provides a console-like Smash experience on the go. Pokemon doesn't feel like a small console game. Smash 3DS does. That's all I'm getting at.

I know they would probably never do it but i would buy a nintendo home console instantly if they made a good open world pokemon rpg a la Skyrim style. I mean open world, 3d graphics, wild pokemon and quests just like a bethesda style game, that would be awesome.

Very silly reasoning, the best way to accamodate both methods of play would be to make a game for handhelds and another for the consoles(say once a gen?), the same thing Nintendo does for literally all of their other franchises.

To me it simply a question of laziness and a desire to protect their handheld space (which is fair). The horrible Pokemon RPGs we saw on the gamecube bent over backwards to not step on the toes of the handheld entries. At least Pokken is moving in the right direction.

I wish they would do something like X and Y for 3DS and Z for Wii U. Give people the option to play it on console.

Maybe when the sales of Pokemon on Handhelds declines A LOT! We could see it on a home console.

Oh noes... how did that ever work for fighters? Cmon... i understand that you like to have handheld games and no one is saying to stop that, but surely it wouldnt hurt to have a home console game to go with that. It doesnt have to be insane either... just like every game has 2 versions, make a 3rd with simply better graphics for the home console. Nintendo and fans apreciate if you make an effort to not let the home console market die in Japan...

To be honest... if thats all he wants, make an MMO. You will have everyone hanging out in virtual mode.

I can see why handhelds is the better option for main line pokemon. It definitely works better as a portable game. Pokemon is about meeting with other fans like you and being able to battle, trade, and just do whatever you can in whatever is in the current pokemon game. A lot of that is lost in a console version. This sort of thing is definitely visible in pokemon centers if you go to any of them, and I think it makes a different when you can meet your opponent in person rather than over the net. And it's just easier to meet and talk pokemon with other as a handheld game. I would like a console size pokemon, but I see why handhelds are currently the better option.
