He didn't have a tv or console because his mother wouldn't allow it. The week before he made it big, he played in front of 5 people in a Dublin bar. He has talent but so do another 1,000,000 musicians. His lack of tv and consolehave nothing to do with it. He was in the right place at the right time. He was persistent even though he didn't look the part.
He also never drove a car before top gear. Is that also a good thing that helped him become a musician? No. But he semed to enjoy messing up. He is just a sound guy who puts a positive spin on his shitty childhood. Just like his music. One song makes the life and death of a crack whore sound beautiful. It's what he does. Make shitty situations sound good. That's what makes him an artist. The guy could crap his pants and come out rosey telling us it helped him grow.
