White guy with a guitar is the easiest genre to break into. You can be ugly, an average guitar player, an average singer and still get famous as long as your lyrics pander to dysfunctional teenage girls. To be fair, his song about crackheads is one of the few songs in the white guy with a guitar genre I can tolerate, so there's that.
