- Yokoi articulated his philosophy of "Lateral Thinking of Withered Technology". Mr. Yokoi refused to release a color version until technology permitted a color handheld that would last a significant period under the power of a few batteries. Indeed, Mr. Yokoi's persistence saw the Game Boy, with a greater game library and long battery life, dominate the handheld market while the color screen Game Gear and Atari Lynx failed due to high battery consumption and expensive purchase price.



Software
- Mario Bros. He proposed the multiplayer concept and convinced his co-worker to give Mario some superhuman abilities, such as the ability to jump unharmed from great heights.
- Produced several R&D1 games, such as Kid Icarus and Metroid.

Yokoi explained many of the intricacies of game design to Miyamoto at the beginning of his career, and the project only came to be approved after Yokoi brought Miyamoto's game ideas to the president's attention.

He also produced Kid Icarus.

If it wasn't for Yokio's supervision, Mario would die from the falling damage associated with high jumps.  It is Yokoi's supervision that lead us to the Mario we know and love which ironically will be Miyamoto biggest strength.

He made several of Nintendo toys before they made videogames, if I remember well he was involved in the console controllers making too!
