It's not shit at all. It's not perfecting anything. It's literally as simple as turning off the 3D roam mode and programming the camera so it doesn't favor one side. It would require like no work. Sakurai deals with it. These guys, who make traditional fighting games for a living, can deal with it too.

It is! lol but that's just me, the thing is for some reason the gameplay seems to change when in 2D, that's what i meant, profundize into only 1 aspect of the game; also Sakurai doesn't ''deal with it'' and you know it if you read his interviews, he speaks of smash bros and fans ''opinions'' more as a burden than anything else

Ultimately my message is, it's better to make a 2D fighter from the ground up, if that's what you want which is not the case with Pokken, than make a half assed try hard 2D fighter within another game whit a similar mechanic. And to be clear, i'm not against either, just think the second would be a waste of resources, for very ''small'' this might be

So I might get drilled for this, but why would people not want something similar to this as the new battle system in the main Pokemon games?

Like as a replacement? Because the current battle system is one of the most complex, yet ultimately accessable, ones of any turnbased game? It's perfect for a spin off. You know, like Pokken. Even I, who made an entire thread on how there should be an open world Pokemon game like this, don't think that it should replace the current system. It should be a spin off, or a sister series to the main games. Never ever a replacement.

Knew it was a more naruto like game from the very first trailer but no one would listen :S. Just rewatch that trailer and you can easily tell.

It didn't look anything like the Naruto games from that trailer. There was no way to tell back then.

Hope it comes to Wii U. Not really feeling like dropping over a grand on a Japanese arcade machine : p

No, he's annoyed that people want him to alter mechanics make the main games hardcore in a way that would clearly effect the real Smash, which is a 4v4, items on, party brawler. He has no problem with items off 1v1. He even says that he's glad that Smash can be enjoyed by different people in different ways and is open to throw those guys a bone like with Omega stages and For Glory mode.

And I agree that it's better to simply make a 2D fighter than force a mode. It's the same with Smash. That has absolutely nothing to do with providing an option for 2D only fights, though. It doesn't matter if 2D Pokken doesn't match up to other 2D fighting games. It gives people an easy to impliment option. It's not half assed at all. The 2D mode is made to be robust anyway.

Just like For Glory Smash is still amazingly fun, there's no reason why a 2D mode for Pokken couldn't be just as fun as well. I personally think For Glory is almost as fun, if not just as fun, as free for all. No reason Pokken can't be the same. It gives the game more variety, for sure.

Yes, as a replacement. I find the turn based battle system of Pokemon incredibly boring. How have people that have played every main game not gotten sick of the battle system? I just wish there was something to spice it up. Although, I'd be satisfied if they made an open world game with a battle system like this, like you said.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

That sucks for you. There is nothing to spice up. Pokemon is a strategy game. You either like them or you don't. It's already exhilerating. People keep playing it for the same reason they keep playing something like Street Fighter, or Dota, or any complex multiplayer game with a steep dependance on complex strategy. There's a deep, expanding, and evolving competitive metagame. Pokemon will never die as long as they keep adding new Pokemon. It's like chess if it added new pieces and a bigger board and more rules every 3-5 years. And if more people liked chess. And if all the peices looked like cuddly or vicious monsters.

Pokken unfortunately makes it very unlikely that that will ever happen.

I know what you're saying. I'm saying that you're wrong. It would not be a waste of time. It would easily double the amount of content in the game with an extremely simple string of code, just like with Smash. It's the opposite of a waste of time.
