Seriously for $40 I consider this game still a rip off... Why can't we just get a solid pure Kirby game like the Crystal Shards or Triple Deluxe (the gameplay for triple deluxe is awesome).
Maybe Nintendo's new strategy is to attract casuals with such a casual looking game with it's mascots (like the Wii days).
And although I didn't get Captain Toad... It looks 7x more a $39.99 price tag than Rainbow Curse. Least there's some stages and bosses to roam, not just a 2d drawer type game.
$29.99 at most.

No. People charge the lowest they can to stay competitive while still making as much money as they can by not being to far under. They price match. The price eventually reaches an equilibrium. That price becomes standard.

Wait, are you saying WWHD was $40 when it was announced? Because I was sure it was $50. |
No, I'm saying that WW GCN was $40 when WWHD was announced.

Yeah, that's what I said. Anyway, I wouldn't pay $40 for a used copy of The Wind Waker, so clearly overpriced. |
And I wouldn't pay $1, so yeah, totes overpriced. ;)
Back in my days Kirby Canvas Curse was critically acclaimed, now people are telling me its spiritual successor isn't even worth $40. What an age we live in :^)

It doesn't matter what you would pay. It's what the majority would pay in a flexible price market. You don't matter in that sence. Not over priced. Kirby is overpriced. It's not a price determined by competition. It's determined by an antiquated pricing structure that starts at $60 and deviates from there. And it's price is determined by Nintendo, a company with no competition when it comes to pricing Kirby. In one year, the game will be much, much, much cheaper new, because the game isn't worth the current asking price.
Nintendo will keep the price the same on the eshop because they're in a controlled environment with no direct competition.

I use GCU at Best Buy and its still $60 on their system but if it does go to $40 then I guess it will hold me over until Splatoon.

Yeah, on sites like Amazon and Ebay.
