I was just looking over here, Re 4 is actually one of the best selling, at 5.9M atm.

If Re1 is remade, it might have a shot at top 5 too, it is currently at 6.4M. Re 2 is at 5.8M, and has never been remade, so it can take that too.

Which place is Cod 4 at ATM? James Bond: Golden Eye 007 has sold 8.1, so it is behind that. We also have Medal of Honour: Frontline, at 7.7M .

I really think you should count Duckhunt, it is a shooter. Only way to get rid of it, is retyping the genre.

I believe that that Half Life had sales of 9+ million on PC.

There is still Goldeneye with over 8 million sales ;) Congrats for CoD4 :D Theyve deserved it :D

to be honest i think games like half life 1 and counter-strike sold more than this.

Considering i bought my copy about 3 years after it came out just for CS and which I doubt it was tracked, then I think you're absolutely right...

 And mind you, there were still 100's of thousands of player palying on the servers....

Halo got boring very, very fast.

I don't think comparing a multiplatform game to a single platform game like Halo's fair.

Let's consider COD4 buyers who own a PS3 and 360. And let's say 1/2 those people bought COD4 for PS3 and 1/2 for 360. Let's say that's about 1 million gamers total.

You say we should just count one platform, but that's not fair, because if COD4 was only on 360, then there could be something like an additional 500k because of the people who own a PS3 and 360.

Not to mention those who might possibly buy a 360 just for this game if it was only available on 360, not PC, PS3, or anything else.

If Halo 3 was available on 360 and PS3, there would be less 360 sales than there are now and a few more PS3 sales.

A COD4 buyer is a COD4 buyer. Being spread out over about 3 platforms may very well give it better sales, but hell, that's because they were smart and spread the game as wide as possible. Microsoft would have gotten much better sales if they put Halo 3 on 360, PS3, and PC....but of course that would require some bizzaro dimension.
