It'll be down for sure as we have no games confirmed for the second half, and with them having revealed Majora's Mask and Fire Emblem recently, the latter of which likely wont make it worldwide this year, I find it hard to believe they still have a bunch of games to announce that'll release before the year ends.

well we know there's going to be a pokemon game and possibly another a holiday title. there will be the usual third party dreck, obviously, but i can't imagine we won't see a bunch of 2nd half 2015 stuff at e3 for the 3ds.

bravely second is nothing to sneer at either (1m+ and counting), and that's almost certainly coming this year given the success of bravely default. tho that seems more a late-august or september title than the holiday title.

Well, even if it doesn't do well, there are going to be some great games coming out, even if only the few that we know of so far. Heck, I just got a demo code for MH4U which is a game that I am definitely looking forward to, despite how niche the game is. I don't know if it will do as well as 2014 but I think that a downward spiral is a bit of an overstatement. But really, 2014 had some great releases on 3DS that 2015 will have trouble topping, since we only have games confirmed for the first half of the year.

How do we know that? They took a break on the main series after the last 3 years in a row so it's likely they'll do so again. It still doesn't make sense to me to announce Fire Emblem over games that will actually release this year, but eh they've done that plenty of times before so I guess it doesn't mean anything.

If they take as long as they did to localize the original then we wont be seeing Bravely Second for a while lel.

why would they take 2+ years to localize a game that's a proven seller? that's what happened with xenoblade, they waited two years and then they saw that that would sell better in the west than in japan even. now xenoblade x is launching in the west within a few months of its japanese release. same with bravely second. that hardly seems to me to be much of a stretch...

also, the break they took was called releasing a new console (gba to ds). but in recent memory? no break whatsoever. diamond and pearl (2007), platinum (2009), heartgold and soulsilver (2010), black and white (2011), black 2 and white 2 (2012), x and y (2013), omega ruby and alpha saphire (2014), ...

they haven't taken a break since 2008. and they've been rewarded for annualization with consistently excellent sales. no way are they skipping an enhanced remake of x and y this year.

as for announcing fire emblem before other games this year... this is the company that announced shin megami tensei x fire emblem in january of 2013 and we have yet to see it. they just like to open big and close big.

That's tough. On the one hand, the 3DS is on a downward slope. It's life is coming to an end and we're in it's final year(s). On the other, even the first half is looking better than all of 2014 for the 3DS where its only big games were a port and a remake.

Even without info, there's no doubt in my mind that 2015 will at least match 2014 in software significance. We'll get at least two big games, and one of them will definitely be Pokemon. I personally think that a 2D Metroid is long overdue, so my bets are on that, and there is still much to confirm.

Even still, I don't think the 3DS will outsell it's 2013 year. So I think it will be slightly up YOY or at least even, but definitely won't approach 2013's year.

EDIT: But I couldn't care less, because the 3DS's software line up is finally awesome again!

Why ask me why Nintendo does dumb things, though in this case it's not all their fault as Square Enix should be the ones getting it localized. Regardless I don't think we've had any word on it's localization or that it's even been confirmed for the west which isn't a good sign for a 2015 releaseat this point.

Nothing for 2010.

true dat

There would probably another Yokai Watch Game coming this year In Japan + I think the first one is also coming out everywhere else.

Xenoblade on new 3DS is also coming.

And MAYBE.... Nintendo could do the same with the 3DS like what they did with the Wii U ( wii games on Wii U eshop for a much lower price ). Basically DS games coming to the 3DS eshop. ( maybe ).

And Nintendo could announce the release date of that Amiibo stand / platform scanning thing for 3DS / xl and 2DS. ( Which will improve the sales of Amiibos much more + the platorm thing itself )

I think this year would be much better compared to last year, in terms of software ( for owners ). But not sure about sales though.

Pocky Lover Boy!

ok so 3ds did 9.97m in 2014. so to the 7-8m people: how does the 3ds collapse by 33%? there's such a thing as a baseline, isn't there? just curious as to what your reasoning is.
