About time MS got with the times, who charges for OS upgrades?lol
But it also begs the question what they will be making money from now on, the only profits they ever make are from charging for software updates. All their hardware businesses like Tablets, Phones and XB1 are huge loss makers.

Office. They have 2 other divisions bigger and more profitable then Windows, so no biggy.

But how long till they have to give that away for free as well, Apple already gives Pages for free, and Windows being free is really just a result of OSX being free. Plus there's a very rapid trend of offices allowing employees to bring their own devices to work, and that's really going to hurt MS, no one uses a windows computer by choice.

Like I said, its a one year hit. After that you'll have to pay full price. Now I don't think its subscription model for wndows, and I think that office will cost money forever, so no that'll never happen.

umm, what?  Windows laptops are far more popular than Mac laptops...

Office products are industry standard and will never change.  People, especially common office folks, HATE change.

I guess we might be looking at Pay to use Os.

Unless they calculated that they would make the money back from the Windows Store.

Bumping this tread.
