Forums - Gaming - Has the sequel of a game you liked ever gone exclusive to a console you didn't own?

All RPGs that suddenly went to 3DS and Vita instead of proper consoles.

Have you ever played a game, or game series, and wanted to play the sequel or spiritual sequel, but couldn't because it went exclusive to a console of a different brand that you didn't own?

A few guidelines/rules:

1.) It only counts if the console the sequel went to is of a different brand than the one you played it on.
2.) Spiritual successors count.
3.) Timed exclusives do not count.
4.) If the game was released for your console, but only in a language you can't read, that counts.
5.) Home consoles only.
6.) Post your console owning history, so people more easily can see where you're coming from.

As for me, two games come to mind.

Console history: NES > N64 > PS2 > PS3.

- Xenoblade. I was a big fan of the Xeno games on PS1 and PS2, so would have liked to play this one as well, but it went to Wii. Although the game's artistic style wasn't as appealing to me as Xenogears and Xenosaga, so it didn't bother me much, but if I had the chance I would have wanted to try it out.
- Tales of Vesperia. It did appear on PS3, but only in Japanese. But my Japanese isn't good enough to fully enjoy the game, so maybe I'll go back to it at some point in the future.

I would suggest you get xenoblade. Also, how would you feel if a Xenosaga HD was exclusive to the Wii U?

This is the reason that i'm a Playstation gamer today.

I loved the hell out of Tomb Raider back in the Sega Saturn days. Lara Croft's adventure took a spot in my heart that most games today still have a hard time doing. Then the news dropped that Tomb Raider II was going to be a Playstation exclusive.

Be clear that I dropped my Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Sega Genesis at a heartbeat.

12 months later it was released on the Sega Saturn anyway. F%$@ ME. It was a TIMED exclusive.

Oh well. Playstation has been good to me ever since.

Fortunately not.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Assassins Creed is no longer coming to Wii U.

I expected some Bayonetta & Resident Evil Revelations posts...I'm disappointed

Resident Evil 2 was on the N64 even though 1 & 3 weren't which was pretty annoying...

This seem to always happen to me with Nintendo. Maybe not a direct sequal to something but a new game in that franchise will be on their handheld and not their console. Always pisses me off

If I get a Wii U, I will consider it. I just wish I didn't have to play using the wiimote.
And if XS HD went exclusive to Wii U, I'd be sad. Not only do I want to replay them in HD some day, but some of my friends haven't played theoriginal versions but wanted to, and this would be a chance for them to play them. Though I think the chances of that (going exclusive to Wii U) are extremely minimal.
The only way I can see it happen is if Nintendo pay for the development of the game. Namco own all the rights to the IP, as confirmed by Harada, so it wouldn't make sense for them to purposely limit themselves to an 8m userbase for no apparent reason. Especially for a project that they are skeptical of if it will be profitable for them in the first place.

You don't need to use the wii mote, it is recommended you use a classic controller.

Sure. Perfect Dark for N64, one of my top 3 all time games, had a sequel made for Xbox (or X360?), following Rareware sale from Nintendo to Microsoft.

The sequel was called Perfect Dark Zero, if I remember correctly, and I believe it ended up being garbage.

Worst times of my life (gamingwise of course).

It wasn't bad at all.

But nowhere near as good as the original.

On topic: Valkyria Chronicles.
