Saying stuff like that doesn't help things. I don't think it's PS's answer to Gears. RAD have been more influenced by Uncharted and ND than Gears/Epic. Ru even said that U2 was the reason RAD decided to go ahead with making this game. Now, yes, they've talked about looking at what Gears did (including other TPS, they said they played lots of TPS as "research" for this game), but seems to me the only thing they are bringing over from that is the violence and maybe the fact that the gunpay is just a lot punchier than ND overall. As far as the rest is concerned, narrative structure and focus, pacing, etc, will be a lot more like what you expect from ND than Gears.

Lets not kid ourselves here, regardless of whatever RAD has said, this game has more in common to Gears than it does to uncharted. Especially from a gameplay perspective. Yes, its obviously added some more gameplay elements and takes how it tells a story more seriously, but its still more like gears than it is uncharted. Right down to the closer chase camera angle.

And I don't see how that is a bad thing, Gears borrows from KillSwitch which was a PS2 game anyways. At its core, the gameplay, which is what is the biggest thing in any game, nth is game will play and feel more like gears. Story presentation and pacing may feel like uncharted, but that's not what's really important. Now if this game has a dedicated jump button, with environmental plat former like puzzles and navigation, then yes, you would have a case.

Haters gonna hate.

It was going to be brought up anyway, I just wanted to get it out of the way as early as possible ;)

I'm amazed this game is coming to germany in an uncensored form (or I at least hope it is), did you see how the railgun took that guys head of?

I love the steampunk setting. It would be perfect if it was open world. But still it looks exciting.

I don't know, open world games we have these days do so much hand holding, so that people do not feel "lost" I mean, Far Cry 4 even has full autodriving cars and turn-by-turn GPS navigation on dirt roads in the most remote mountains... then you can't stray out of the mission areas too much or they make you fail it and all the useless "treasures" they put everywhere, the game can be completed really fast if you just follow the standard missions!

Now a linear game where the gameplay mecanics are thight and the enemies are not overly predictable is a much more interesting proposition, it allows them to control the pacing of the story and provide great gameplay! yay! ... otherwise, they should skip most of the story and just provide a map with enemies and ask you to find some specific areas from the get go, no GPS BS, the games they make would be more interesting that way.

Anyway, I am not saying open world = bad, just that it does by no means make a game somehow more better or original and certainly not automatically replayable in medium to long therm.

I've always thought it looked more like TLOU and still can't understand why people think it looks like GOW. It's a third person perspective. Are people saing that GOW was the first game to do TPP? Or is it that it uses cover because that has nothing to do with GOW and everything to do with developers realising what people would do in a real situation.  It's just another way of knocking the game.

Nope. Not in the slightest, not only does it not look like gears, more importantly it doesn't play like gears. Don't know why this is so polarizing.

Gears is a full blown cover based third person shooter, just like kill switch before it.

Uncharted is an action adventure plat former + tips

TLoU is a survival third person adventure shooter + puzzles.

Of all three games, The order has more in common with gears of war than any of the other two as far as its gameplay is concerned.

This is not a bad thing, and people that make that comparison thinking that its somehow how knocking the game down are reaching and stupid.

I think GOW popularized TPP and it influenced a lot of games especially with it's camera angle, even if it was certainly not the first game to do that. Batman series, Deadspace, Murder: Soul Suspect, TLOU and probably a lot more utilized it across different genres and gameplay styles. But think of it this way: Zelda: Ocarina of time was one of the first 3D games to have a targeting system. Is every 3D game with a targeting system a Zelda clone? Wolfinstien or whatever was fps. Is every fps a Wolfenstien clone?

OP: I believe that games with this kind of story telling are the revolutionary next step for gaming.

.- -... -.-. -..

Now that's an awesome trailer! They should've revealed the gameplay with something like this.

Now I'm 100% hyped for it. :p

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I think it will be good!

graphics looks awesome as well... the animated gifs even look good.
