You have kind of a valid point except for one thing. It wasn't metroid clogging up the pipline last gen. it was "wii sports", "wii fit", "wii music", "wii play", and "wii are getting kinda p*(ssed at the amount of dumb causal games".
Also, Prime: Corruption was the only metroid game that was made by a nintendo studio last gen; otherM being made by team ninja of tecmo. After the non-system-seller nintendoland turned out to be and the gimondous flop wii-fit u became, i don't think there's any reason that we can't have our cake and eat it to this gen.

Let's hope they finally give up on it.
Wii Fit and Wii Sports Club have both flopped hard. Only Wii Party U seems to have been succesful and I don't understand why we need that as we have Mario Party already...

Why downgrade themselves to only making decent games when they can keep making awesome Kirby games? 
And on the flipside Intelligent Systems is making Codename Steam which not many seemed hyped for. Regardless I wasn't saying they should or shouldn't, that's just what they do, so I wouldn't expect them to do much else!

Because Codename Steam doesn't look very interesting or Nintendo-like. If the game was more interesting the hype would be bigger.

Your opinion of course, for I find it looks very interesting, but this is besides the point, being that making a new game doesn't automatically mean more hype.

Right, because Super Metroid and Metroid Prime aren't on top 50 game lists quite frequently on all sites. And Metroid Prime doesn't have the 15th highest metacritic score at a rounded 97%. It is quite obvious that the series is more acclaimed than, "here and IGN, and like 4 guys on YouTube." It is evidenced by your "overrated series" comment. If it is only cared about by such a subset of the internet gaming population, how is it overrated?
