Forums - Nintendo - Idea that would make Nintendo $1Billion

1 billion dollars once or about 200 million dollars a year, every year? In just 6 years you've already outdone what you'd get for selling them once. Plus Wii U is now spinning profit. The only logical time for them to do this would be if they literally were losing like 500m a year and they only had like 2bn left

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

Well that and EA already has the rights to the Star Wars games, so I'd assume Nintendo wouldn't be allowed to use that either.

Still it'd be worth it just for the rights to Marvel games. Nintendo doesn't really need Mickey and co. ... they already have Mario and Pikachu and Donkey Kong and Kirby. But Marvel? Hell yeah, that could be a game changer for them.

Would be good for Nintendo, but still a terrible move for Disney.

Just by taking Marvel you rip into Disney Infinity, which is heavily geared to the Marvel Universe this time.

Well I assume Disney would still be allowed to do whatever they want with Disney Infinity.

Nintendo would just get ancilliary rights to make additional games based on those IP, which really Disney doesn't use. The Avengers really didn't get a major game release, nor has Iron Man, the Spider-Man games have been crappy for ages, and there wasn't a major game for X-Men in a long time either.

Where does Nintendo get the resources to make these games?

Do they begin shelving their own IP to give their resources to Disney IP?

I just don't see how this would be a good move for either side to be honest.

both need something te other has, nintendo needs some fresh ips, why not make the next mario not mario but dolan duck? and disney needs more ip for the core disney brand, frozen was maybe a hit, but disney and pixar are putting out a lot of crap like planes and cars. they lost the magic..

Yes, they signed an estimated $2B over 17 year TV deal. Also last year the MLB has new TV contracts which will see every team gaining an extra $25M per year in TV revenue.

Their last deal saw $48M/year in TV revenue. Now it's $143M. That's a monster increase of $98M/year just from TV alone!!

Now let's factor in how the team is on the rise and a legit playoff contender now.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Nintendo needs to be hurting to do this, believe me they aren't hurting much.

I'm guessing you didn't see Big Hero 6. Domestically alone it made over $215M as of today. Foreign it made another $212M. It had a production budget of $165M. It will continue to make even more when it hits DVD/BD and digital.

Plus Frozen wasn't just a hit, I believe it was the biggest animated movie of all time.

You couldn't be more wrong and Disney has more than just Pixar by the way.

Edit - Stupid VGC, can't even embed a video...

Was gonna give you a Baymax fist bump. So i'll link you to it.

When you're in good financial shape, you don't need to sell off valuable assets.

If they earn money every year.. why would they sell ?

It's not like they need money (sony i'm looking at you :)

This.

If you get a constant cashflow just by owning them and you dont have financial problems I see no point in selling them.

What Nintendo should do IMO is make NES games free for people that own Nintendo hardware and sell NES games for 1.99 on iOS.

Asking for $5 on the eShop (and especially 5 pounds or euros) is a joke when you can get 1 year old PC games on steam for 4 bucks.

this. :)

heh i didn't even know NoA had that.

The mariners? lol I could probably buy them. Hey Nintendo, here's 20 bucks in cash. Hand it over.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Nintendo owns a baseball team? What the fuck? When did this happen...HOW did this happen? Nintendo of America is one strange beast.

OT: Nah. If they're still making money off of it, there's no point in selling it. Only reason they ever should is if they're on their death bed, and they certainly aren't right now.
