Forums - Gaming - The Wii U is the only console to ever baffle me

Oh I see, you are the kind of guy that hates a Zelda game and judges it's qualilty based of off it's artstyle

I agree at some point. It was their first HD console, and to be honest, it's underwhelming. I haven't seen anything new from them that can excite me like TP or SMG on Wii, or SM64 and OoT for the 64.

I was expecting a lot better from them. Only XCX and Zelda HD looks like promising games.

They didn't have the devs teams. With all their money they should have established at least 2 more western studios and another Japanese one for AAA games, not just mario and quircky spin offs

I disagree with a couple of your point, but for the most part i can see where you're coming from (though i think you're generalizing a tad too much).

I should note though that the WiiU isn't weaker than the PS3/360. It's certainly quite a long way behind the X1 (and even more behind the PS4), but it's still a decent step up over the both the PS3 and 360. Not that there are many titles on it that actually make use of its advantage...

...Yeeeaaah, I think I've been on the internet for a bit too long today.

ey can do no wrong? What was their gameplan with the Wii U? Every decision they have made this gen has baffled me.

I feel like you don't really know what you're talking about for 80% of this.

- The Wii U is a far worse name than the Xbox One (which is a terrible name). Mainly because it caused a lot of confusion (which the One should have too but surprisingly didn't).

- The Wii U is at most barely more powerful than the PS3 and 360 which is unacceptable in 2012 and unacceptable to charge $349 for it

- There is no "vocal minority" in regard to the gamepad controller. It has been rejected by EVERYONE even Nintendo who have yet to make any good uses of it. Compare it to the Wiimote which Twilight Princess, Galaxy, and Wii Sports made it useful.

- Mario 3D World flopped

- The Zelda art style is bad. Twilight Princess is also the second best selling Zelda game behind Ocarina of Time... Skyward Sword sold TERRIBLY primarily due to its art style.

You tend to speak in the name of everyone while most people would disagree

I think most people are agreeing cause I see on forums everywhere people are angry at Nintendo. When I saw 3D World I did a huge face palm. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 were some of the most gorgeous games EVER (despite not being HD) and Nintendo finally gets an HD console and all they give us is a sequel to a 3DS game? Unreal. Not to mention Zelda. They showed us this awesome demo at E3 2012 and what they gave us is a Skyward Sword sequel.

Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time are the 2 most popular Zeldas, with TP getting so much hype it was ridiculous.

OP, do you own a WiiU?

Always seems like we get threads like these from people who don't actually *own* a WiiU.

That's the problem - I have no desire to even own a Wii U (though I have played it).

The Wii is the only console I ever waited in line for during launch. I waited in line for multiple Wii games as well (Brawl and Galaxy). I even loved the GameCube and thought it was amazing. That's why the Wii U baffles me so much, because I have no desire to even buy it even if it was $100 (okay maybe I would to play Bayonetta 2).

I think that "U" should look over this again.

What? Terrible joke? Yes, I know...

Not entirely true WInd Waker is my second favorite Zelda game behind Ocarina of Time. I'm actually more against the Skyward Sword art style than cel shaded. It just looks so cartoony and bad, but not cool like Wind Waker.
