Forums - Gaming - Software quality 2015. Who will win? Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft?

Depends if you mean exclusives or overall.

Exclusive wise will be Nintendo.
Overall... will be close... Wii U will have least amount of games as usual but there will no doubt be crappy games from Ubisoft and other 3rd parties in droves on the other 2 consoles... so averages out to be not much more than Wii U/3DS.

besides, quality is subjective for the same reason preference is

Not entirely.

I'm a Nintendo gamer, mostly, but I wouldn't have picked them as having the best games overall in 2011-2012. That transition period between Wii and Wii U was not good for their games line-up outside of a few gems, and the support for the 3DS didn't really kick into overdrive until 2013.

2014, though, was Nintendo's year as far as I'm concerned, partially because they were the only major who seemed to be releasing games of a pretty consistently excellent quality. ALL their major games were designed to work perfectly from day one, when they did DLC it was generous and never felt like they withheld content just to fleece more money from gamers, and whether or not their games were new IPs they always felt fresh and full of new ideas (Smash Bros. not so much, but it was so polished and packed with content that I didn't mind).

2015 looks to simply continue that trend in their case. I'd love to hope that Sony, MS and third parties are taking note but until they can all actually demonstrate that consistency of quality like they did during the previous generation, I've got to assume Nintendo will come out on top again.

Nintendo. with xenoblade, Zelda U, Star Fox and New 3ds xenoblade... nintendo no questions about that :)

34 years playing games.

Sony.

They'll have Bloodborne, The Order, Uncharted 4, Rime, Ratchet and Clank reboot, No Man's Sky, Persona 5, Yakuza, (japan), Dragon Quest Heroes (japan), MLB 15 if you care about that, and a bunch more that I can't remember.

Even if some of them end up being duds, they'll have more than enough other titles that will be great to make up for it.

So nice to see someone not treat R&C and MLB The Show as if they don't exist.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Just check my avy

I certainly don't treat R&C as it doesn't exist xD. As for MLB, I never actually played one, but it fills a niche for anyone looking for a good baseball game.

Looks like all 3 will have some great games this year! For me I only have a Wii U, 3DS and 360, so obviously Wii U and 3DS titles will be more exciting for me. Though I know there are a lot of games on the other systems coming out this year that I'd love to play as well.

sonys PS4, nintendo has too much cartoony looking games who are not appealing to me. I need mature themed games with deeper story, or just games with deeper storyline and story telling who also can look cartoony like akiba strip which is only on sonys consoles.

I'm sorry but this is bullshit.

- Fire Emblem (I think it will come out in 2015)

- Xenoblade Chronicles X

- Bravely Second

- Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (in case you didn't play the Wii game, it's a rather rare and expensive title after all)

- Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

- The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (the darkest Zelda game)

- Zelda U

- Ironfall: Invasion

I'm also glad you can download Metroid Prime trilogy for €10 because that game is also rare and expensive... If you haven't played the Prime games you should definitely put Nintendo number one automatically. :p

Most of these games arent devoloped by nintendo themselves. I never thought zelda has good storyline btween. It has a story but link ussually is a neutral character.

Even if that were true (which it's not), why does it matter?  The one game you did mention in your post isn't developed by Sony.

PS: Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles X (and Xenoblade Chronicles 3D), and the Legend of Zelda are all Nintendo developed. Monolith Soft is a Subsidiary of Nintendo, FYI.

Nintendo, just too many quality titles.

So your argument against quality being largely the same as preference, is your preference, backed up with more of your preference?
You see how that doesnt really work, i'd hope.

People who like something more than something else (preference) are more likely to naturally attribute that as being better quality, however, in your instance for example, someone that loves GTAV, Cod, Destiny, Sunset Overdrive, etc, is more likely to point at games they like as being the hallmark of quality while shunning the games YOU like and consider high quality titles, as being boring.

I guess my point here is, a persons perception of quality is heavily biased by their personal preference.

Did you read my entire post carefully? That was not my point at all.

My point was that it's not as simple as saying people will just say their favourite company has the best games lineup for 2015, followed by pointing out that I think there are specific recent years where Nintendo didn't have the best overall lineup - in spite of the company generally being my favourite of the big three. Just because I prefer the company doesn't mean I'm blind to their dry spells.

And yes, it's subjective and a matter of personal preference. Obviously.
