Forums - Sony - Retrospective - Sony E3 Conference 2003

God, the psp was truly amazing at the time and it was the first handheld I chose over the ipod and DS and I still have no regrets to this day. It had plenty of features that was missing on the ipod and DS and even on a lot of the phones and the porn experience was pretty great on it cause of the wifi

The one who wrote it and is on the second last picture is Fishie, Very good friend of me, I also let him sign up on Vgchartz before but he was hated here because he called PS3 a mess (was even on kotaku http://www.technologytell.com/gadgets/21142/rumor-is-sony-is-having-ps3-development-problems/ ) and because he stated MGS will also release on Xbox. Great insider.

This really shows how the PS3 became what it did. Sony was so cocky!

I mean, they had a right to be cocky, the were destoryinng Nintendo and Microsoft, combined, times 2. You're right though, they got too cocky and made some terrible mistakes with the PS3. They recovered nicely enough with the PS3 but they must have learn their lesson.

Nintendo made more profit than Sony during the PS2 days. I wouldn't call that destroying.

No, they made profit on both. Nintendo has to split their development and hardware teams in two to support their systems, so there's no point to seperate the two. Besides, Sony has PSP (which includes 2004-2006 of the PS2 era) and Vita and they still don't make as much profit as Nintendo.

Where do you know, has sony released profit data for 2013? Nintendos hanheld market is slowing down, most of the 3dses are sold in japan now

I don't, but 3DS is still selling nicely, not far behind the PS4. And I heard the Wii U isn't selling at a loss anymore. But anyway, the point was that Sony didn't destroy Nintendo during the PS2 era. Companies care for profit. Fans often look too much at hardware numbers, while completely ignoring the fact if the company makes a profit or not. I don't think NIntendo cares where they make the most profit from. Making profit from consoles isn't more prestigious than making profit from handhelds you know...

Can't argue that. Still, it can't be denied that 6th gen belonged to the PS2. It's not the highest selling console of all time for nothing. I mean come on, I'm pretty sure 21.7mil gamecubes sold compared to 155mil PS2s sold is getting destroyed, sales wise.
