Maybe they don't feel they know enough about football to make a good football game? I mean, only NA/Japan/Korea/Taiwan care about baseball and they made Mario Sluggers.

Its not like Monolith Soft would develop it, they could hire an american studio or use one of their own (remember that one of the original retro titles was a football game)

Baseball also has a share or popularity in central and south america (mainly Cuba and Venezuela) as well as Europe, hell even Italy has an official baseball league.

I probably wouldn't buy an NFL Mario game... I have Madden. That is unless they made the referees goombas..
