That isn't a defeatist argument. Your eyes regulate to what they are used to. They are doing the best they can with the limited hardware that they have. Its about the game and the artistic license and doing the best on the games that are meant for the hardware, not the hardware not the hardware itself. Thats the PC gamers mentality where its performance > games in a conversation for them. Thats perfectly fine but that conversation will not work with the common man. If people get used to 1080p at all times, sub 1080 will become annoying. If their eyes are generally regulated to 30 fps and they play a couple 60 fps games they can go back and forth, but if 60 fps becomes the standard, it will be noticable in almost an annoying manner. This is why in reviews you hear alot of PC/Console gamers talk about frames every ten seconds when really the question is did the game perform well and did you enjoy it? Thats pretty much what the console gamer wants. A game meant for their hardware that entertains them from what they spent their money on, thats all. Its the opposite of the PC mentality when you're thinking at large.
I was that way once myself with PC's and then I started missing console exclusives.
