Animal Crossing sells much more on HH's and even City Folk outsold Skyward Sword so based on sales Animal Crossing is in fact bigger now.

Zelda probably has a more dedicated base worldwide that will buy a system just for that next game though. I'll give you that.

Splatoon strikes me more as a mid-tier franchise in terms of sales, similar to Pikmin and Kirby.

I was just informed that Splatoon is only 1V1 for local play... I had assumed it'd be 2V2 but you know...Nintendo

If true, that is a horrible and idiotic misstep.

But as you say, it's Nintendo. They always find some way to mess up.

Hopefully it has bots; straight 1v1 would be boring as hell.

Splatoon looks awesome, and if they get a great online experience I'm sure it while rise up the charts in sales, but out of the 9m people that own Wii U, at least 5m of them are Mario/Zelda fans. Splatoon is new and could go well, but won't beat Zelda

According to the developers, (last E3) the 1V1 mode would be seperate from the main game and would have a different goal. It's making me think of Bingo Battle from Pikmin 3.

If this ends up true, my anticipation for the game will go down significantly. Sigh
