I don't play online, so the aproximatedly fifteen hours I played were on singleplayer content xD

Why would you inflict self torture like that to yourself? Yes the single player is TOTALLY NOT where the game is in MH, its in the online.

You need to play a couple of hours online in the game to have actually play the game, I totally understand why you still have that view of the game cause you played tacked on part of the game.

Its like playing TMNT in time back on the snes and playing the two player "fighting" mode of the game, thats not really the game.

Well, what people expect? I hardly ever play multiplayer on any game, and the game itself advertises as both a cooperative and a singleplayer game.

Nah its really an online cooperative game, that's where the heart of the gameplay is, until you play it online starting from scratch with your character you would not be able to get an overall feel of the game.

Monster hunter is ok it's not nearly my favorite of the "Hunting" games. The biggest problem with it is that it's exclusive to the 3ds, playing mh on the 3ds is god awful. The controls are bad, the screen is bad, it looks bad. Would want a vita, ps4, or even wii u version instead.

Like who?

I've only played Monster Hunter tri (wii), but there wasn't a single player boss I fought that I couldn't beat without dying. You just need to find the weapon that works for you, get a good armor set, and play with the mindset that your first priority should be staying alive. If you can't stay alive you are worthless. If you can't get a hit off during a specific attack without getting hit yourself, then don't try to attack at that point in time. It is a change in thinking but I think that is what makes it great. It is very much about overcoming the odds by fighting something that is so much bigger and stronger than you are, but it does so without becoming unfair.

So you have Monster Hunter Tri ...

Well that figures, out of the two between Monster Hunter Tri and Monster Freedom Unite the latter is known to be more difficult than the former ...

I DID have BOTH good weapons and armor sets. I DID have the priority of staying alive at all times when it came to a boss. YOU can't say I DIDN'T do my part.

When it came to the Tigrex, it was pretty clear from that point on the bosses were nothing more than pushovers ...

I shouldn't have to spend over 30+ minutes to kill a boss that can tank down your health easily ...

The "even Wii U" bit obviously shows your bias. The game would be better on Wii U than PS Vita going by the criteria you provided. Anyway, Monster Hunter got popular on PSP, so people are plenty fine with playing it on a handheld.

A wii u version for me wouldn't be better because I would prefer it on a portable system that has decent camera controls and better graphics. If I was biased I wouldn't have even mentioned the wii u. The "even wii u" bit was added because I don't own a wii u.

By that, do you mean you would prefer it on a portable system, just one that has better graphics than the 3DS?

You seriously believe the Vita can produce better graphics than the Wii U? lol As for controls there are multiple controller methods on the Wii U. The gamepad isn't the only controller, meanwhile the Vita is limited to one control method, and if it doesn't suit you then whatever.

No, I believe the vita can produce better graphics than the 3ds. I'm talking about a 3ds vs vita version since, again, I would prefer a portable version. If mh4 was coming to all 3 platforms I mentioned and the 3ds version too. It would go like this for me as far as what platform I would prefer to play the game on.

Vita > PS4 > Wii U > 3ds

I'll post later, have to leave for work right now, but I will post one thing for now.

This series was trashed by critics on the PS2. http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-2/monster-hunter

Once it became a cult classic series after the popularity in Japan, every critic has been overrating and now it's one of the best franchises ever and the first to the last there's almost no change to the gameplay. It just shows how biased critics are and it's a shame it's taken everyone else this long to find out.

Not that I disagree that critics are biased, but I wouldn't call a 68 (trashed.) And I wouldn't consider low 80%'s that much higher, especially when online, controls and overall polish were additons in the series over time. It could be very possible that most reviewers didn't give the original Playstation games and the first two PSP games much of a chance and quit early on. Or there were just so many fewer reviewers reviewing the game from a similar demographic of tastes. How much people like a certain type of game depends very much on their experiences with other games, and if more people are reviewing over a certain amount you should expect score differences. If I hadn't played Monster Hunter for example, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed MMORPG's when I later dabbled with them as much as I had.

Here are all review scores for monster hunter games.

Monster Hunter Freedom for IOS - 86

Monster Hunter Tri (Wii) - 84

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U) - 82

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite - 81

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (3DS) -  79

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (PSP) - 72

Monster Hunter Freedom (PSP) - 71

Monster Hunter (PS2) - 68

Let's comapre Gamespot and IGN reviews of Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

Gamespot 57 vs. 65

Ign 72 vs. 80

And considering that MHFU is a better game, overall more polished, with much more content and a few editions to make it more streamlined that definitely seems fair. It's interesting how both scores increased by a similar amount.

That is very annoying to hear. Why arent reviewers pointing this out on their reviews? If the single player is totally not worth i would have liked to have heard that before buying these games. It also means that their lifetime is very short.
