Wouldnt it be funny if they would do it in historic context? And the even more funny thing is it would actually work as a concept for Sony. In my opinion the biggest treat to Sony is Microsoft both in form of Windows /steam PCs and the Xbox One while Nintendo will never be a treat to Sony again at least not with the WiiU. Nintendo is clearly lacking online infastructure so they will never be able to built such a similiar network like playstation now while with MS or steam its a different story.
I think it would give sony huge subscribtions boost beause the Wii U clearly is lacking third party support. Nintendo fans are disspointed and want to have these games, lets face the majority of nintendo fans cant just own only a wiiu. Hardcore Nintendo fans sooner or later have to buy a secondary system and if sony comes with playstation Now it can get huge amount of subscribtions. Because it seems like a good deal, keep buying nintendo games while paying sony 45$ every 3 months to play ps4 and ps3 games.
Sony could seduce nintendo fans in getting also ultimatly a ps4 as a second system in the end due to Trophies, aditional Now games, DLC and other deep integration into the Playstation Eco systems. And keep in mind nintendo fans would also have to pay playstation plus to play online for PS4 games.
But does nintendo benefit is the more interresting question? In some way yes, in some ways no. Having third party games trough Now would further set back third party support for the WiiU as publishers could take Now as a way to penetrize the Wiiu market without devoloping anything on the wiiu. But on the other hand they arent devoloping anything now, anyways .
Having PSN network integrated seems quite worrysome for nintendo but on the other hand has nintendo ever had a strong digital/network support? Most of their digital games are snes and other vintage games who dueto lincensing will stay on nintendo forever. The wiiu was even built without any harddrive so its not the best console to have a similiar network like PSN while PS Now is also a good answer to having no harddrive at all on the wiiu. Trophies and similiar kinds dont exist on nintendos network so again no big deal. And the thing with nintendo is that they are a single player game maker anyways, their entire console is based on single player experiences without all these DLC/Microtransactions conscepts EA and others need.
But what speaks for nintedo is that they could be boasting about how you could just buy a wiiu and play your ''glories'' nintendo first party games while getting also your third party games plus the sony exclusives. They could sell more units while sony in the long term will be the one who would make more money.
But would nintendo want this? Taking another step being more irrlevant and being questioned why they arent just a publisher in the first place if sony would deliver the games nintendo is lacking?
Tell me what you think from bussiness standpoint for both Sony and Nintendo and what you would want?
