Ugh, more GamePad gimmicks. That aside, it does really sound like a unique idea.

I'm now filled with determination.

That's a neat idea, not sure how that would effect graphical performance though.... it's having to push two different images simultaneously, but maybe the environment building and rendering would be shared for both (so that the main differences the GPU has to calculate are the character model on one screen versus a HUD/helmet overlay on the FP view... and probably a different field of view)

I thought about that, I don't know if it's possible to reduce strain rendering the environment one time, and just change the camera perspective still using the same assets.

One of the benefits of this style would be that you could do area control by have glimpses in the TPS view what is behind you, while you are focusing shooting in a FPS view.

I think scanning for notes and using thermal vision and stuff by holding the game pad up would be a pretty nifty way to use the pad in Metroid. With a map and weapon stuffs when you're not using those features of course.

I dream of a world where we can have Metroid threads without someone going off topic and harping on about Other M. We get it. You're afraid of change. Let's move on.

Metroid: Other M really killed off the entire franchise.

Other M was an spin-off made by a external studio, I would not say it killed, but taught Nintendo to not leave random people put a Hand in their IP.

Actually, the irony is that Other M was handled by none other than Sakamoto himself, the father of Metroid, who had no hand in the Prime trilogy. He did a George Lucas and killed his own baby.

Other M is canon, Prime trilogy is not.

Both are most certainly canon. Prime is, however, a side story, so it has less impact on the overall timeline. It's still canon, just doesn't advance the overarching story. But then, nothing really can. The series is over. The last Metroid is in captivity dead. The galaxy is at peace. All Nintendo can do is make spinoff stories like Prime, or excuse stories like Fusion. They could go backwards, I guess, tell how Samus got her suit, but that's about it. Doesn't mean they should stop making Metroid games though. Nothing wrong with side stories, back stories, and the like. Expands the lore. And the Prime games were awesome.

Sakamoto was for so long away from directing a AAA game, this explain a little bit, did not know that.
