It's frequently suggested that Nintendo should stop trying to be unique in their hardware design and create a console that is equal in power and has the same architecture as the potential Xbox 4 and PS5. While there is disagreement on whether that would cause third-party developers to port their games onto Nintendo's platform in addition to Xbox and PlayStation, that's not the point of this thread.

If Nintendo's next console is not the weakest home console in the ninth generation, (assuming that both the PS5 and Xbox 4 are roughly equivalent to mid/high-end computers and close in specs,) has a similar online infrastructure, gets all third-party multiplatform games at the same time, along with Nintendo's exclusive offerings, and has a similar price, will you purchase it as your primary console for that generation?

This is mostly directed to those who currently choose PlayStation or Xbox as their primary console, since Nintendo fans would buy it anyways.

I already own a few. GameCube and Wii U come to mine

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

can I just point out that before the wii, nintendo consoles were powerful as in more powerful than most competitors. I still say power is an excuse when it comes to consoles so I would buy it regardless as long as games are good.

If you're interested in Nintendo content and understand german, maybe you want to take a look at my youtube channel! :)

Assuming all that, it's very possible. I like Sony's first party a lot more than I used to, but it's still pretty hit or miss and not something I couldn't live without. I mostly care about third party games, and if Nintendo keeps it up with the Platinum games, I'd be willing to make that trade!

The Wii U and Gamecube are hardcore consoles. Casual is the word your looking for I think.

Awww. Why so unnecessarily defensive.  You didn't even answer the question. The question wasn't about what you owned...  Just more chest pumping.  You guys are killing Nintendo...

Anyway, if it got proper hardcore third party support,  I would definitely buy it.

Guys, guys, that's not the point of this thread! I know that Nintendo has had powerful consoles, and that the Wii U is anything but casual. The question is supposed to be directed toward Microsoft and Sony fans who complain about this stuff. If they want Nintendo to have a PS/Xbox-like console, but won't even switch if Nintendo does that, then there's no reason for Nintendo to copy Microsoft and Sony.
