Nintendo always does something that upsets the majority of gamers that it'd be nigh impossible to make a console that satisfies everybody's needs

Maybe...? I feel like what I loved about older Nintendo games has mostly been lost in the post N64 shuffle, something a new system wouldn't rectify. I can't deny the allure, the dream of good & visually impressive Nintendo titles without a ridiculous controller, though.

Not if there was no third party support. I know you stated this was not about whether or not they would in fact support the console, but if there is none I would not buy one. I do not care how powerful it is.

It's frequently suggested that Nintendo should stop trying to be unique in their hardware design and create a console that is equal in power and has the same architecture as the potential Xbox 4 and PS5. While there is disagreement on whether that would cause third-party developers to port their games onto Nintendo's platform in addition to Xbox and PlayStation, that's not the point of this thread.

If Nintendo's next console is not the weakest home console in the ninth generation, (assuming that both the PS5 and Xbox 4 are roughly equivalent to mid/high-end computers and close in specs,) has a similar online infrastructure, gets all third-party multiplatform games at the same time, along with Nintendo's exclusive offerings, and has a similar price, will you purchase it as your primary console for that generation?

This is mostly directed to those who currently choose PlayStation or Xbox as their primary console, since Nintendo fans would buy it anyways.

Obviously. The majority of gamers respond to third party.

Sure thing!

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Yes. I've been saying they should make one for years now.

In fact it's the only way I'd buy a Nintendo console. If they made it roughly as powerful as Sony and MS's consoles, with good online, earned 3rd party support, plus all the good Nintendo exclusives...who could say no?

Even with a hardcore console there's no reason they couldn't still have the wii-mote and shit to make the motion control guys happy, just make that a side option and not the main selling point.
