Look at this link for the highest game budgets of all time. (It is wikipedia, it's not fully reliable, but just bare with it for now.)

Now, out of all these games, only one of them is published and produced by Nintendo. It get's me thinking, should Nintendo have more big-budget games. Not even one Mario game made this list. High budget games usually makes hype from marketing. Not only that, it makes the game better in general. I really think Nintendo should start making higher budget games. Even though if they don't want to lose money by spending it, they can still make a system seller, and that equals profit.

Nah, they budget their games very well usually. They spend as little as possible to make a fantastic game and the sales more than make up for it. Some games, like Metroid and Zelda, could definitely benefit from a bigger budget, but regardless I think they spend enough money to make great games.

Now what they don't spend enough money on is marketing, but that's another issue entirely.

They don't need a higher budget for their popular games like smash and Mario Kart. The only ones I think deserve one is zelda, c and metroid along with any new ips

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Well, I am pretty sure budget isn't really an issue for the developers considering how polished and awesome their games are... Heck, do we even know what the budget is for most of their games?

I think it mostly comes down to what the developers want to create and I also think that Nintendo and their developers knows how to manage their money better than most companies.

And also, High Budget =/= Greatness considering the reviews scores of say Destiny (76) vs review scores of Nintendo games like Smash Bros 4 (92)

The quality and polish of Nintendo games are fantastic. A larger budget probably won't change that. In fact some of the best features of Nintendo games are created as a means to reduce the budget. For example, Nintendo games don't use much CGI: either their cutscenes are rendered in real-time or they tell the story through the environment (such as scanning in Metroid Prime or dialogue with NPC's.)

It wouldnt make a difference for Nintendo.

They actually cut budget where they can if you notice.

Does it really matter. Yeah a bigger marketing budget would be nice but did destiny with its huge budget really top zelda or metroid

Their big games already have large budgets. They don't need to spend more on individual projects, but have more large projects.

Nintendo don't usually reveal their development budgets, do they? They wouldn't be listed if we didn't know the budget.

It wouldn't surprise me though if they really haven't made many $50m+ games. Unless you're creating something incredibly ambitious (like GTA5), need development to move along quicker than normal or are simply setting fire to money, there's rarely a need to spend that much on development. They could often do with spending more on marketing though :p
