Wii U will go about 10m until April, and be sold 4~5m more in 2015(~2016 April). So it can pass 15m easily, but I'm not sure if it can pass GC. It is the problem when Nintendo release their next console.

Both should have sold between 9.5 and 11 million (highly differing on sources), though espacially Dremacast with really heavy discounts. I remember some stores trying to sell Dreamcasts for 149 Deutsche Mark in late 2001, should've been arround 75$ back then.
And you could find Dreamcasts on some stores until 2003, just because no one wanted to buy them.
That is quite important if you take Dreamcasts total sales. It was discontinued early but it took Sega years to get rid of their stock.
Saturn is even harder. Seems like Sega never sold the complete production, Saturns also where sold on discount...
Don't want to piss off old Sega fans, but even Wii U is doing better overall than both of them, even if it hasn't reached the total sales.
THat said, Dreamcast was awesome back then.
Wii U will outsell the Vita without a doubt in my mind.
And I believe Wii U will outsell the GC. Part sales trend, part wishful thinking.

VGC sucks at old consoles that are not Nintendo.
There's a bunch of them that are just incorrect. Among them the Dreamcast (which should be at 10.6) and the Saturn (which should be at 9.5) and even the original PlayStation (which should be at 102.49). I don't get how this site got old numbers wrong.
WiiU will obviously however, beat both Dreamcast and Saturn though sadly it's not much of a feat. I'd say it'll go above Vita too, and end around GameCube numbers.
| boypita said: That numbers are wrong :S Both consoles (Saturn and Dreamcast) surpass 10 million. I remember seeing in an old Sega blog that Saturn was at almost 12 million. |
And why should we trust that old Sega blog? Saturn sold 9.5 million. I am sure Sega would've announced it if the Saturn had surpassed the 10 million mark that easily.

A sale is a sale, there were also tons of xbox 1 sales which was the console for 320$ + 2 new games and 50$ giftcards = 150$. Shouldnt these also not be counted? also you forgot inflation.
DC sold 10.6m. Still close to one year to go, probably.
And it sold that in 1.5 years of WW sales. To think that next to Vita and Wii U, DC was a sales monster, lol. Had Sega had the resources to keep the thing alive, it could have sold upwards of 30m for sure.

Not saying anywhere it shouldn't be counted. People just seem to forget that Dreamcast did not sell good and that total sales especially of Dreamcast where until long after it was discontinued with heavy discounts.
That said, neither Vita nor Wii U have reached those numbers yet. Vita will surpass Saturn soon, Wii U a little later.

Doubtful; GCN and Xbox failed to hit 30m, and they had much stronger IPs than Sega.
