Forums - Gaming - Sony Should Release Three New SKUs

The PS4 Slim will obviously come out later this gen. A digital-only PS4 might be possible, but not until very late into the generation as a way to further cut down on price to snag more buyers.

A PS4/PS3 hybrid is unlikely to happen. While, on paper, it sounds awesome, it might not be a smart decision manufacturing-wise. Also, it will be competing with PSNow and the last thing you want to do is to have your products compete against each other.

Digital only sounds like a pretty bad idea.

I like the first 2 ideas. However the 2nd one should wait a bit before out on the market and you'd have to really get people to understand that it cant play discs.

why? There is a lot of people who doesn't using disc

2 and 3 don't sound like a good idea

2 - the removal of the disc player would be a good opportunity to lower the price, not keep it the same or higher because of a bigger HDD. All discs install all data to the HDD anyway so it's not like there's a big difference between digital and retail users

3 - probably not cost effective

Sony don't need to aggressively cut the price of the PS4, its highly competitive as is and is profitable. Too many SKUs is confusing and may cause stock/demand issues if some are highly unpopular they'll be sitting on shelfs, taking up space.

Later in the year they should introduce one additional SKU with 1.5TB memory, keep it at 399. Drop the price of the current 500GB model.

I would say that the disc less Version is a bad Idea, though what I would say is don't take any features a away so maybe a backwards Compatibility could be a good Idea.

But what I would do is add the Vita to the Mix, and sell a bundle for $500 (i think 370-400 in pounds), and that way it could help bring the Vita into the market with a bit more sales and get some more features going between the two, Like being able to play your PS4 from a different location other then what your WiFi router will allow.

Anyone else feel like this could be a good idea?
