Under $1.10 here in AUS. 40cents cheaper than the standard price. But I still remember when it was like 80cents a litre.

Bad for energy companies, good for utility companies for example.
I think this will only last a year and will creep back up towards $4 a gallon gas by 2017. If oil companies can manage until then (most can) be back to record profits.
For most people it will mean hundreds of dollars in savings, but be surprised to see us go back to old habits if it only last 12 months like I expect.

I mean, of course we pay less for the gas, however public transportation and food remain the same. At the end of the day the people who commute to work by bus, train or whatever mean of public transportation only knows gas is cheaper since you read that on the news papers, but no real change on prices.
I fully expect a raise in price as soon as the gas goes up again though.

So a nuke attack would be bad. |
You are a MADman.
There's an oil war going on behind the scenes with Russia, only reason prices are low right now.
Edit: Well not the only reason, but the main reason.
My country is fucked.
I want a huge crisis in Saudi Arabia so the oil price goes above 80 again and those fuckers stop being so bitchy.
Edit: At least we are not as fucked as Venezuela.

No. It has nothing to do Russia...It's just side effect that the Russian economy is imploding since they along with Venezuela are broke and depend on their oil exports to stay afloat. The cheap gas is being caused by OPEC. With the U.S. and Canada producing large amounts of shale oil, there has been an increase in the global oil supply that has been exaggerated by a decrease in demand.
Fewer jobs where i'm from, which is big into shale gas.
Which has good and bad. More unemployment is always bad, but it should help sober up folks around here who are getting too much into a boom mentality.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It's not really OPEC but Saudi Arabria that decided to do this. They wanted to hurt two of their competitors, Canada and Mexico who are interesting enough part of OPEC, who had started to take some business away from them; and from the looks at some of the responses it is working. And goes to show that the market is basically in the hands of one country. They are sitting on the biggest oil reserve is the reason why they are in "control".
Though I have heard some idiot praise Obama for this, though it does have some ecconomic pluses it needs to stay at this price for a while until the "ripple" effects can be felt. It took about a year when they oil started to go up before logistics started to really adjust their prices and suppliers for my company follow after that.
